My Moko case just arrived.  It fits perfectly and I am again able to read comfortably.  The front cover bends backwards and I am able to hold the cover between my fingers and just use my thumb to balance the Oasis.

You are definitely not the only one having problems holding the new Oasis.  I traded in my Voyage and do love the size of the new screen but, without any edge, I keep hitting the screen bringing up the index or menu.

I know that I can not comfortably read on this device without a cover to grip.  I returned the cloth cover which was worse than useless and my Moko cover is in the mail today.  Hopefully, it fits well and the cover will allow me to grip the Oasis better.

I think this new Oasis design team was filled with people who have larger hands and definitely not with anyone who suffers from arthritis.   :(

I didn't wait for the Amazon cover I ordered to arrive but canceled it. When I ordered, I didn't realize it was that suede finish like the walnut covers for Oasis 1. I have one of those and dislike it. The lousy reviews on the Oasis 2 covers cinched it. So I just ordered the above to have something when my Oasis 2 arrives (scheduled for Thanksgiving week). I'd rather have something pretty in a color, but for $15 at least it's a cover and I can get 3 more covers like Moto's later and still not spend what the Amazon cover was going to cost.

That's what I thought too.  I tend to avoid black since at one time I had so many tablets, etc. in black and couldn't find anything.  I just realized that all our tablets are now in different bright colors so at least I will be able to differentiate the Oasis.

Has anyone seen any good new cases come out for the new Oasis?  I don't like reading without a cover but I didn't like the Amazon cover at all.

I returned the AMZN cloth cover and ordered this one which I am suppposed to receive next week.

MoKo Case for All-New Kindle Oasis (9th Generation, 2017 Release) - Premium Ultra Lightweight Shell Cover with Auto Wake / Sleep for Amazon Kindle Oasis E-reader Case, BLACK

Moko just announced one in black.  I have had Moko cases before.  They are very nice but after a few years, they do deteriorate and pieces of the cover flake off.  It's not expensive $10 plus $5 shipping.  In stock on November 11th.

Yes, I chose the option that got free return shipping since it's not being returned on a whim.  Now for the long wait for a great cover.  My Voyage cover was by ACase and I loved it. I've had most of the most popular third party brands on my previous Kindles and other tablets.  I have never had an IVSO case.

The Amazon cases are pretty expensive -- I didn't order one, but if I did and found it didn't stay attached, I think I'd return it as defective for a refund.

edited for clarity of quotation--Ann

Actually I don't think I got a "defective" case.  I do believe they were designed that way for quick release for people who like to read without the case.  Quick release may be a desirable feature but not when it is inadvertent. :(  I just filled out the return form this morning.

This is the first time that I have purchased an Amazon case.  I've always bought third party cases and sometimes had to purchase a few before I got one that really suited me.   This time I thought as long as I was paying so much for the Oasis, I might as well indulge myself and get a quality case and so I ordered the charcoal cloth one.  I got it yesterday and I am so disappointed.  It fell off twice and I have no idea why.  It just seemed to slip off while I was reading. I have never liked reading without a case to grip but gripping this case might result in a dropped Oasis. :(

I got mine today with the cloth cover scheduled to arrive tomorrow.  Coming from the Voyage, my first impression was that the page turning buttons seemed wrong with the bottom button turning back a page and the top button advancing.  Holding it the way I was used to holding the Voyage, my thumb tends to rest on the bottom button.

I quickly googled it and found that the buttons can be reversed which makes all the difference to me.  I changed it so that the bottom button now turns the page forward.  I also love the boldness adjustment as well as the additional font sizes.  I'm really glad that I upgraded this time.

Maybe a dumb question but the ACcase "vintage" case has some writing on the front saying "Vintage. You Are The Best".  For those who have purchased this case, are those words really on the acutal case?  Seems rather odd.  I might consider the case otherwise.

Yes, it does.  I actually like it.  Since at my age I consider myself "vintage", the additon of "you are the best " is just the nice little positive reinforcement that I need.   ;D

Finally, I can stop looking.   :D  The ACcase folio style arrived today and I absolutely love it.  After three cases, it is the first one that I can actually rate 5 stars.  It really is beautiful and so much easier for me to hold than the smart shells.  It only weighs .4 ounces more than those but, though lightweight, is much thicker.  I'm so glad that I followed this thread and finally got something that works for me.  Thanks

I have this one and i like it. I have the Finti too. The ACase seems stronger to me.

I'm still following this thread and can't believe that I'm having such a hard time finding a case that I like.  I just ordered the ACase folio in Vintage Brown because it really does look so nice.  It will be my third case for the Voyage :(  and I plan to wrap the black elastic that I sewed into a band around the front cover to improve the hold.   I hope this one gives me both the look and feel that the Voyage deserves.

I'm still not as crazy about any of the Voyage cases as I was about the PW case.  Maybe I just feel that since I really love my Voyage, I should have a case that enhances the feeling rather than leaving me feeling as though I've downgraded the case.   :(

A manufacturer that I was not familiar with, Nouske, sent me  THIS   case and if anyone is looking for a book style case that easily and securely stands while reading, this fits that requirement nicely.  I only see it offered in black but that is the color I always choose anyway since it blends in with the Kindle frame.  My case does have a defective wake/sleep magnet though :(  I've been using it for a few days and I like the feel of the cover and my hand tucks neatly into the folds making one handed reading easier for me.

For those of you who want the origami feature that allows you to stand your Voyage up to read, but who dislike the flip over style and would prefer a book style cover, then Moko may the thing for you - it's on both Amazon US and Amazon UK. As far as I can tell, it's only available in black though.

Oh thank you for posting this.  Moko is my favorite brand and I have it on my tablets and had it on my paperwhites.  I gave my PW2 to my son and the cover which I had used on both the PW 1 and 2 still looked as good as new.

I was doing a Moko search since the Voyage came out but since I did not find anything new, I gave up.  I'm so glad that they finally developed one that seems to meet so many requirements.  :)

This is my Fintie magenta cover for my Voyage. I used metallic silver Stazon ink with a few Papertrey Ink "Fancy Flourishes" stamps.

Beautiful.  The only modification I made to the Finite cover is utilitarian, not that I am talented enough to make something as creative as you.

My main complaint with the Fintie is the flimsy front cover and the fact that I can't seem to get a comfortable grip.  I cut a 13"  strip of 3/8" wide black braided elastic ( I have the black cover) and sewed a one inch overlap on the ends. I placed this over the front cover. It does not hinder the automatic wake/shut feature at all and gives me a nice band to slip my hand through when the cover is folded back.

However, on the product page, the image is (I hope) of the PW cover, as it shows the device held behind a window cut out in the case in a way that would cover the page turn buttons on the Voyage (and the auto light adjusting sensor, although I've given up on that feature for now). If it does that, I don't care if they're giving them away, it won't do.

I just saw that too on the images for the green flip top cover.  Since they changed the shipping from Nov. 14th to Dec. 5th, I cancelled it today.  It does look as though it covers the page press.

I guess I'm the exception on this cover.  I really don't like it much but it will do until I find something better.  I weighed it and it only adds 3 ounces but I think that is because the front cover feels as though it is just a piece of covered cardboard.  It closes securely so would be good for traveling but it doesn't open as easily as my MoKo paperwhite case that I loved.  Since my main purpose in getting a cover is to give me something comfortable to grip, this Fintie just doesn't meet my needs.

Some people have complained that the bottom of the touch screen is not sensitive so they have trouble getting to the reading navigation display. I think this is because it wants a swipe from the bottom. A tap won't access mine, but a swipe always does - just start in the middle of the bezel and swipe up. This is confirmed in the user guide loc 127.

Thank you for posting this information.  I'm one of those people who tend to skip reading the user guides when upgrading.  I was annoyed at not having the reading progress bar respond quickly to my taps.  It does work nicely with swiping.  :)

The black one is only five bucks shipped, and it looks a lot like my Paperwhite case.

Thanks for pointing that out, Ronald.  I ordered the Poetic flip case in brown but this black one was too good of a bargain to pass up.  This way if I hate the flip option, I have an alternative plus it is already available.   :)

It used to say limit two, now it says limit one. . . . I guess they got a good response! :o

If you do not currently have Prime, you can sign up for your free month and then order it at the special price.

It reminds me of the huge unexpected response Google also got when the Chromecast was introduced in July 2013.  The price was $35 but that included a 3 month offset of Netflix costs.

It seems that strategically priced new tech items have a waiting audience.   :D

The recently issued Prime instant video app for Android works beautifully on both my Nexus 7 and 10 so that must be the app that they will update to include a "cast" option once the device is released.  I couldn't resist the bargain and ordered it.   :)

I have a Chromecast which is exactly like this but doesn't allow Amazon Prime to be cast.   :(  Yes, there is an a/c adapter which plugs in and the other end of the device plugs into the hdmi port.

With the Chromecast, I can control the selection and viewing directly from my tablet or desktop and can easily switch between them.  I see that they are saying that there will be an Android app that lets one control this.  It definitely is priced right for Prime subscribers at $19, much too good to resist.  My husband uses a Roku but I don't like the idea of having any more remotes around so the Chromecast and this device suit me better.

I'm finding the naked Voyage a bit uncomfortable.  It seems harder to pick up without a cover and I still fear knocking something over on the screen when it is just sitting on a table.   :(    I still tend to inadvertently hit page forward or reverse and think that having a cover to grip may help with that.

I've never had a flip style case but I think the Poetic flip style is worth a try for only $10.  I guess it is understandable that no preview copies of the Voyage went out to manufacturers but now the wait till the covers are available seems so long.  My confirmation for the Poetic case gives an estimated date between November 19th and 21st.

I do like that one, Betsy,  and the white one with the butterfly.  It says that it is a snap on cover which would be really nice since the slide in cover that I use for my PW would cover the side sensors.  I don't have a lot of strength in my arthritic fingers and don't want to add an additional layer that would make it harder to press.

As someone who has eagerly grabbed every upgrade, I am so happy that I got this one.   While I agree that the change in readability from the PW2 is subtle, it is still very important to me since reading is my favorite activity.  For me, it is comparable to getting a new pair of eyeglasses.  I always think that I am seeing as clearly as possible until I get a new pair.   ;D

After reading about possible problems with looseness in the USB charging port, I checked my PW2 and noticed that it does have wiggle room but that has never given me a problem.  I compared the Voyage and see that it does seem tighter so I have no worries there.  The only Kindle that I thought has a blotchy screen was the PW1 but even with that, I found it an improvement over the booklights and resulting shadows that I needed on previous models.  It's also nice to have the page turn options.

I love my Voyage.   :D
