Welcome from a fellow newbie! I also don't have a Kindle yet but am currently using Kindle for PC. Just like you, I can't wait for a Kindle!!

The same exact thing happened to me last week. No books would load so I deleted all the books and they all went into the archive. From there, I just double clicked on each one and they redownloaded and installed and all was back to normal. They even still had my bookmarks. I have a Vista laptop.

I check there daily and grab whatever free books I want quickly. Amazon sometimes only leaves them free for hours or days before they are back to retail prices.

Just download Kindle for PC and put it on there until you get your Kindle. That's what I do. Then you won't be missing out on the free books.

@Deb ... I have lived lots of places in Fairmont but the last home we lived in there was on Burnt Cabin Road which is off East Grafton Road. It's about half way between Fairmont and Grafton. It's a tiny little (blink and you miss it) community called Quiet Dell. Indeed, it IS a small world.

It's really great to meet everyone here! I can't wait to get my real Kindle. I know I'll love it! I love my Kindle for PC because it gives me access to more reading than I could have ever dreamed of, but I'm looking forward to crawling into bed one night without my laptop.

Here is a link to a blog that posts the books available free from Amazon that day. Many of these books are returned to regular price within hours or a day of being offered for free so grab what you want when you see them!

Hello everyone! I'm Roberta from northern Florida. We moved here 3 years ago to be close to my parents. We are from the beautiful state of West Virginia and hope to return there one day. I am the mother of four mostly grown children. My youngest is a 17 year old son.

I don't yet own a real Kindle. I'm saving for one using 3 different points sites where I have gotten gift cards equally $85 already applied to my Amazon account. I've been working on it less than a month I expect I will own my first Kindle within the next 30 days.

Right now I use Kindle for PC where I have about 50 books, all of which I've gotten free. I check a blog daily that tells me which books Amazon has for free that day. I grab the ones I want fast as they usually go back to regular price within a day. I have a wishlist on Amazon of non-free books that I will be spending my points on after I get my Kindle.

Kindle for PC has been a dream come true for me. The only downfall is that I read in bed a couple of hours each night and my laptop doesn't accommodate that well. Looking forward to owning a real Kindle and looking forward to making some new friends who share my love for reading!

Hello I'm new the forum and have a question that I hope I'm posting in the right place.

I am currently using Kindle for PC while saving for a real Kindle through several points sites. I now have $85 on my Amazon account so, wich a real Kindle within reach, I have starting thinking about getting my current books onto my Kindle.

Having no disposable income but a love for reading, I check a blog daily that lists all the free books Amazon is offering at the time. I have downloaded many free books ... all of which have now returned to regular price.

I always thought I would be able to move my books from my PC to my Kindle. But, from what I'm reading here, it seems I will have to re-download them from my Amazon account. I'm wondering if they will charge me since none of my books are free any longer? Or will I be able to download them for free since they were free at the time I originally downloaded them?
