Is it opening up like this?

That is exactly what is happening to mine, except mine is separating on the upper right corner next to the sleep/wake slider. Called Amazon about it and I should be getting my replacement tomorrow.

My first K2 (bought at launch) faded and got replaced. Now the replacement is starting to have the casing separate and unsnap at the top and my replacement is on its way...I thought only some of the initial batch of K2's had the fading issue, but from reading this, apperently not. *fingers crossed for a non-fading K2*

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: K2 Poll: Does yours fade in the sunlight?

Mark me up for a badly faded K2 in sunlight...I haven't had a chance to try it out in sunlight until today (first really nice day up here in MA) and I had to ALT-G every time I turned the page to refresh  :-\ I'm off to email Amazon customer service now, as I am taking a beach vacation at the end of next month.

Introductions & Welcomes / Hello from Massachusetts!
« on: March 19, 2009, 01:23:24 pm »
I didn't see my people from MA here, so I thought I would say hello! I got my K2 on the launch day as my first E-book reader, and I have been posting here and there. I just wanted to say that this is a GREAT community, unlike a lot of message boards out there where people are afraid to post as a "newb" for the fear of getting attacked by all the other people on the board. Everyone here as been friendly and helpful!

The Book Corner / Re: Given Up on a Book?
« on: March 19, 2009, 01:19:13 pm »
I'm glad to see that I am not the only one who can not get into Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. I've tried several time to read it (I would even probably try again if it came out on Kindle) but just can't get too far. The thing that bugs me about it is that, I really like "alternate-history-england-with-magic" idea of the book and fantasy and historical fiction are 2 of my favorite genres, but I just can't get into this book...

I know some people have mentioned Pillars of the Earth and World without End, for my 2 cents, Pillars of the Earth was probably one of my favorite books of all time, however World without End couldn't end soon enough for me. I just found the characters in Pillars of the Earth much more likable and World without End, which just seemed like more of the same, but just didn't have the same "WOW factor"...

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: Best places to read Kindle....

The majority of my reading gets done while on my lunch break at work.  I work in a mall, and so far I have not had anyone notice my kindle yet, and I keep sitting in different sections at the mall, to see if someone notices the kindle...

So I feel a little stupid now...

I had no idea that pushing up at the top of list of items brings up that menu! Wow! I can sort by author, date, title and even separate documents and subscriptions! I think next time I get a high tech gadget I may take a minute or 2 to read the manual  :)

Thanks for all your help! I can't believe I was missing something as simple as "push up at the top of the list"...

I'm still not getting the different folders on my K2...I just tried creating a "test file" by just typing some stuff into a word document and sending it to my kindle via the @kindle.com method, and it just shows up with everything else, no folders just everything all together (docs, subscriptions, and books). Any setting or anything I should be trying?

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: Kindle Screensavers?
« on: March 16, 2009, 04:56:13 pm »
Thanks everybody for the info. If there are 25 screensavers, then after seeing Alexandre Dumas today and Virgina Woolf yesterday for the first time (fyi I got my K2 the day it came out) I think that is about all of them!

Let's Talk Kindle! / Kindle Screensavers?
« on: March 16, 2009, 03:44:37 pm »
No this isn't a question about adding screensavers to the Kindle, but actually about the ones that are already installed on the Kindle2...

Does Amazon occasionally "update" the screensavers over the whispernet behind our backs with new images? The only reason I ask is that for several days my screensavers will rotate the same few 4 or 5 pictures and then BAM! A new screensaver I have never seen before and then that will be in the rotation for a few days and another new one I've never seen... So do they send new ones once in a while or do I just have weird luck with screensavers? ???

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: Archive folder?
« on: March 09, 2009, 07:52:14 pm »
Thanks for the help everyone, I think I understand now...
but how do you move books to the archive folder? Kinda like what Eric was saying, I am trying to keep the "clutter" off my kindle and keep my book list down to a page or 2, but I don't see an option to move to the archive folder. Do I use "remove from device" to do this?

Let's Talk Kindle! / Archive folder?
« on: March 08, 2009, 05:56:43 pm »
I'm confused as to what the "archive" folder at the end of my list of books is for.  AFAIK, there is no mention of it in the users guide, and also checked here in forums...I read that downloads "in-progress" temporarily pass through that folder, but is there any other purpose? I can't find a way to move things there, and it doesn't look like anything is in there now. Anybody help me figure this out?

Thanks

Kindle Accessories / Re: Difference between M-Edge Covers?
« on: March 03, 2009, 06:39:33 pm »
Thanks Ruby, that does clear it up for me. I'm still not sure which one I want to order yet...I may have to wait for some reviews. Its funny how it took me no time to decide to plunk down the the $360 for the Kindle, and yet I can't decide on a $30-$50 case!

Kindle Accessories / Difference between M-Edge Covers?
« on: March 03, 2009, 03:52:26 pm »
I've been looking on the M-edge website, Amazon's website, and here trying to find what the difference is between the Prodigy and Executive jackets. I know that one of the differences is with the "hinges" for each, but what does that mean? And are there any other difference? Also, it looks like that both of the cases have a reading light built at the center or is that sold separately?

Thanks in advance! I loving my new Kindle2 (first time Kindle purchaser) and its time to get a case for it before I take it outside my house and "into the wild"...
