Ok-thought I loved it when I was playing with my mom's. I think that was infatuation-today is definitely LOVE! My sweet husband also gave me a gift card so I could buy some more apps! Hulu looks fantastic. I'm so used to using my Iphone that the screen is huge by comparison. Can't tell if I will read with it as much as my K3-but perhaps for night reading. My mom is so going to enjoy hers!! Love Amazon!! The UPS man can testify to that too! :0) Merry Christmas everyone!!

I get mine tomorrow!! Can't wait. I did get to play around with my mom's (she's getting hers Christmas day). I told my dad I wanted to put some apps on itfor her ;0)

I began reading when I was three-but the first books that really stood out to me were the Ramona [expletive]by books. Actually I devoured all of Beverly Cleary in the second grade. Then I moved on to Marguerite Henry (I really loved horses!!). The books that I remeber next as being really important to me were Little Women, Little Men, Secret Garden, A Little Princess, and the entire Anne of Green Gables series. I have loved books since I was little!!

Perhaps Son of the Red Corsair by Emilio Salgari? Here is the plot summary I got from online: The Son of the Red Corsair, one of the most captivating stories written by Emilio Salgari, is a mixture of adventure, humor, and romance that has delighted readers of all ages for many
years. Part of the series usually referred to as Pirati delle Antille, it is the story of Enrico di Ventimiglia, the Son of the Red Corsair, as he travels through the Spanish conquests of Central America in search of the stepsister he has never met. In his adventure, the Count is helped by a cast of colorful characters, the faithful Mendoza, the incomparable Don Barrejo, Buttafuoco, a nobleman-turned-buccaneer, and bands of pirates of the Caribbean.

The Book Corner / Re: What's your preferred novel length?

I tend to favor the "The longer the better" mentality. Even as a child I always went for the thicker books!

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife."

-  Pride and Prejudice

This one gets my vote as well!

1. The Queen's Handmaiden by Jennifer Ashley (323 p.p.-Kindle)
2. The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks (DTB -339 p.p.)
3. The Little Prisoner by Jane Elliot (Kindle-288 p.p.)
4. Mossy Creek by Deborah Smith (and many more authors) (Kindle- 356 p.p.)

I like both! However, I must read the books in order. If I am unable to find the beginning book, then I will probably not be reading that series.

Introductions & Welcomes / Hello from MS

I have been lurking here since I got my kindle at the end of February. Every day I thank my husband for such a wonderful present! (He also got me a Wii). We have been married for almost 3 years-he is totally wonderful! I love it! I am a homemaker, formally an elementary teacher of 9 years. Not having to work was another gift of my husbands. We don't have children-yet, but hopefully soon. We do have 3 cats. I must say I am totally hooked on the kindle! The convenience, the lightness ( I tend to read thicker books), the convenience-ahh I am in heaven!
