Let's Talk Kindle! / PW2 - Left Handed?
« on: October 07, 2013, 09:33:55 am »
You folks are all so smart!! I just know you'll know the answer to this.

Is there a page forward option for the PW2 for tapping on the left hand side of the screen?

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: Kindle app on the iPad mini
« on: October 04, 2013, 01:32:40 pm »
I've been reading on the Kindle app on my Mini Ipad for about a year.  I LOVE my mini ipad, BUT, I just bought a paperwhite this week because my eyesight has definitely taken a dive because of the Ipad Mini and eyestrain.

That being said, I would totally recommend a Mini for everything else, and "sometimes" reading, but not reading on it all the time....

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: Thoughts About the PW2
« on: October 04, 2013, 06:46:35 am »
I ordered the PW2 on Wednesday, after reading everyones great comments on their PW2's that they had received!  Got it last night and set it up, but didn't do anything much other then flip around.  I had the Kindle2 when it first camd out, upgraded to the Fire, then the Fire HD, then I won a Mini Ipad so I switched to that, and my DH got the Fire HD.

Anyways, I LOVE the PW2!!  It is so small, and light, and crisp!!   I honestly believe that my eyes have gotten worst (I am 47, and so thats part of it too) because of all of the reading I've been doing on the mini this year, and reading has not been as enjoyable because of eyestrain.

I am HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY! and can't wait to start reading on it.  I was going to not cover it, but if the Amazon cover doesn't add much bulk or weight, I might have to buy one!

Let's Talk Kindle! / PW2 sleep screen
« on: October 03, 2013, 09:14:14 pm »
This might be silly, but I have the PW 2 and when it is "asleep" (power button pushed), is it normal to have the special offer showing and for the screen never be blank?

If so, what shows on the non-special offer PW2?

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: PW2 Will all books be on there?

Ann, thank you SO much!! I am so happy that it won't have all of my husbands books on there!!!  I like to keep only a handful, until I go on a trip, then I load it up!

Let's Talk Kindle! / PW2 Will all books be on there?
« on: October 03, 2013, 07:37:16 am »
My PW2 should arrive today (a day early, woot) and I was wondering if ALL of the books on my cloud are going to be on there after I register it?  or do I get to pick and choose which to bring to the device?

I guess my question is, can I see my cloud, but not have them all actually on the PW2?

I used to have a K2 and then a Fire, but now read on a Mini Ipad (and it's killing my eyes), so I'm not sure how this will work.

(I hope its just on the cloud, because most of those books are my husbands)

Fire Talk / Re: Freetime Book List
« on: January 08, 2013, 05:48:14 pm »
I emailed customer service and got a really nice (quick) response.  They are going to forward it on...

He said there was no list or way to sort.

The only books I've seen that she's interested in is Ivy & Bean?

Fire Talk / Freetime Book List
« on: January 08, 2013, 07:21:32 am »
I've seen where I can see all of the books that are available on Freetime (on the Fire) and I've even seen the list on Amazon of the individual books, but does anyone know if there is a list somewhere where I can sort them out for reading level?  My daughter is at the very top of the reading available on the Freetime app and would like to figure out which books are available without having to go one by one down the list?

Thanks!

I just had to do this with one of our Fires yesterday.  The new one should arrive on the 4th of January....

Triple Town help!!  Can someone help me?  I went through the tutorial, but can't remember what the bears do?  I block them I and they turn to tombstones?  Is that what I'm supposed to do?  Also, what do the crystals do?

They announced this on the Amazon Kindle facebook page last night and there are a LOT of comments that are upset that the first gen Fires aren't included....so maybe they will come to their senses and add it?

I like the SO's.  I've gotten a free movie rental, and some "cheap books".  There was an add for Discover Card on there for about 2 months that I really got sick of looking at....but that was about it....

Fire Talk / FreeTime for original KF

I have the new HD, and boxed up the old Fire for my daughter for Christmas....does anyone know if there is a software update for the old Fire to add FreeTime? or just the parental controls that were added at the last update.

This might be a silly question, but is there an App for that?  or are they singularly purchased from the Amazon store?

Played "Slice Ice" this morning on my Kindle Fire HD, and it works great.  I turned down the sound, it's the same little beat over and over.  Basically you have an iceberg with any number of penguins on it moving around.  You have a glass in the lower left hand side of the screen. The object is to "slice" the "ice" and the removed ice turns into ice cubes to fill the glass.  Each level has a slice level for 3 stars, etc.  You can curve your slice line (that you make with your finger or stylus) , but you can not loop over your slice.   If you tap on the penguins, they will move faster to the other side.  You cannot slice the penguins.

I give it 5 stars.

This might not be legal, but a good way to get neighbors in those games is to write a review of the app and put your Storm8 ID in the review.....

Downloaded and played todays free app: The Golden Years:  Way Out West

It plays well and looks nice on the Fire HD.   I love this kind of game.  The story line is interesting, and so far looksl good to me.  You collect building materials, build residences, collect rent, and then move up levels.

ETA:  I'm up to level 5, but now I'm stuck, it wants me to build 3 houses, but won't let me....so I don't know how much more frustrating that can be...

ETA II:  OK, I figured out what I was doing wrong.  The water towers need to be placed in the right area to service the houses I needed to build.  It's getting much more fun, but I'm at work, so I need to be careful!! hehe

Fire Talk / Re: Charger for Fire HD
« on: November 05, 2012, 07:40:07 am »
I purchased the quick charger for my Fire HD, but I do know that my sons phone charger works on it....and the old Kindle charger works.  So if you have any other chargers that are that mini (can't think of what it's called) plug (mini usb?) you can try them....

Oh this has happened to me.  Sometimes it will be a webpage that I looked at a few weeks ago, and I'll think "Is someone giving me a message to go back to that webpage?"  hehe.  Books have shown up and even apps!  Thanks for the advise on the force close. :)

Hmmm, I've been hearing a popping noise as well.  Guess I'll have to stay tuned to KB for the answer!

I had one Fire HD replaced because of the popping noice....and within 5 minutes of using the new one, POP....UGGGGGGG
