The Book Corner / Re: Time travel novel suggestions

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch was fantastic, but deals with inter-dimensional travel, rather than time travel.

Haven't read it yet but just picked up Rewinder by Brett Battles from Amazon Prime Reading: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RYTGOK0

Rewinder was great!

First post in years, but wanted to stop by and offer many thanks for the time and efforts you've put into KB. It's obvious you've helped so many through this forum. Best to you and your family Harvey!

Special Happy Birthday to 911jason

Hey Geoff, a very belated Thank you! Shows you how rarely I get on KB these days... :'(

Just out of curiosity, why'd they change the cover?

I tried to get back into KB last year and for some reason I just can't get into it. No clue as to why, though... I still check periodically for activity on threads I have posted on. I'm still on FB a ton though!

I hope your Lonely offer helps with the sales!

Lonely is the Soldier is an EXCELLENT book! Highly recommended to anyone who hasn't read it yet...

Not sure if this is a great deal or not, but today's Tech Woot deal is a refurbished 32gb Motorola Xoom with a case for $199 (+ $5 shipping).

The popular pieces of the 4.2 update that I've seen floating around XDA for the past couple weeks have been the updated camera and the keyboard that now allows Swype-style typing -- and not only with one finger, but two. A novel concept, that sounds complicated but is apparently very fast once you get used to it.

9
Yeah, that makes total sense. If you had AT&T, I would say LTE makes a huge difference, but for your needs the Nexus 4 should be an outstanding choice!

10
Which carrier are you with Gadget Girl? If you're with AT&T, I'd think twice about the Nexus 4 due to the lack of LTE...

11
This 4.7" device is definitely the limit for my pockets. Love the Note though, especially if it can eliminate the need for two devices.

12
Yeah, that's a bit big for a pocket Craig... hehe...

13
Upgraded from my old HTC Aria to an HTC One X yesterday. Really liking it... but boy is it huge! 4.7" 1280x720 screen is incredible.

Best guy around is Ronnel D. Porter. His fee (last I checked, though he's in more demand lately) is only $50, flat fee.

[email protected]

He's a Kindleboarder...

I realize this is an almost 2-year old post, but back in those days, I could not have disagreed with you more. I didn't say anything because that wasn't my place, but all I remember about 95% of his covers back then was Times New Roman stretched vertically. Cover after cover.

Then I saw this thread resurrected and visited his website (http://ronnelldporter.wix.com/design) to see his recent work and HOLY COW has his work improved. Those are hands down the best looking, most professional covers I have seen from anyone on Kindleboards.

Where's the crow? I'll eat it.

I was overcome with the horrors after posting my introduction thread.  Quite a few folks posted after me and received lots of responses while my lonely hello languished.

WELCOME!!!!! =)

There may have been a train wreck of a thread that drew bystanders.  ;D

Hahahahaa!!! Link? Just kidding! =)

Wow, it's been awhile since I've posted screensavers! I'm not going to post individual images here anymore, but you can browse them on my Photobucket account.

By request, I just added 46 new images of libraries in both Kindle and Kindle DX sizes. You can determine which is which by hovering your cursor over the image and viewing the file name. All of the DX images end with -DX.

Absolutely agree that tastes are very subjective... it would be a boring world if we all liked the same things! =)

I've never been able to get into the Bosch series, despite about 5 different attempts over the years. I think I've finished the first book and made it about halfway through the second. That said, if you like Bosch, you'll probably love Daniel Silva's Gabriel Allon too. Although he's an assassin, not a cop. Don't get me wrong, I didn't make it through that series either.

Lee Child is my favorite author by a mile. If you like intelligent mysteries, I think you'll like Reacher for sure.

Another great LAPD series is Stephen J. Cannell's Shane Scully novels. He plays a robbery homicide detective married to an LAPD lieutenant who happens to also be his boss. Cannell recently passed as well, so though a couple have been released since his passing, I don't think there will be any more.

This might bring me back to the eInk fold. I'd be interested in this, as others said, if it doesn't affect the clarity of the eInk screen and if the light can be turned off when not in use (battery life is my concern, here).

Sorry to hear about your rough year, Jason.  Glad to see your post, though...I'd been wondering if you were still on KB.

N :)

That's the great thing about history -- it's in the PAST! 2012 has already been a great year and I only see it getting better! Glad to be hanging out with my friends here again, too! :)
