Bump for lowered price

Buy, Sell, Trade, and Barter / Kindle Oasis w/black cover
« on: July 09, 2016, 11:22:58 am »
After much deliberation, I have decided to sell my Oasis.  It is wifi with the black cover. The special offers have been removed.  I have all the original packaging and charging cable.  Device is in excellent condition.  Cover has a few small marks.  PM me with your email address if you'd like to see pics.

Asking $200 shipped in the continental US.

I received my Oasis wifi from Best Buy on Monday.  I spent a several hours Monday and Tuesday reading on it.  As much as I want to love it, I just don't.  So I will be returning it.

The Oasis is very light and easy to hold.  I loved having page turn buttons.  I got the Merlot cover.  Loved the color and feel of it.

I had issues with the screen.  The lighting is uneven.  It is darker on the side with the buttons, and I can definitely see the "scallops" people are talking about.  It wasn't so bad at light level 7-9, but once I hit 12 or so it was very apparent and distracting.

I also don't like that the cover leaves a large part of the Oasis unprotected.  I'm careful when using it, but I have a dog and son, which means ample opportunities for it to get knocked off places.

I might have been willing to live with the lighting and the cover design so I could have actual buttons, but not for $330 ($290 + $20 tax + $20 for no ads).

Free for shipping:

Kindle Keyboard with red leather lighted cover - graphite - wifi and 3G - serial number starts B006
I updated the software and reconnected it to my account today to insure it still works.  Few light scratches on the screen.  There is a crack on one of the bezels (I think it is on the upper left side, I can't remember) - I covered it with a Van Gogh Starry Night Decal Girl skin.  With the skin in place, it is not an issue.  The cover is in used, but good condition.  The light does still work.  It has been in my closet for months, so I make no promises on the condition of the battery.

Selling my Oberon cover for Kindle Voyage/Paperwhite.  It is the Van Gogh Sky in sky blue.  In like new condition.

I ordered it for the Voyage, but when I got it, the auto on/off feature didn't work.  After calling Oberon, I found out that the cover for the Voyage and Paperwhite are exactly the same - except they place the magnet in a different spot on the insert.  Turns out I got the insert for the Paperwhite.  So, they sent me the correct insert for the Voyage.

I will include both inserts so you can use it with either device and have the auto on/off feature work.

I'm open to reasonable offers - please PM me.

I'm happy to send pictures if you are interested.

Please PM if you want pictures.

My son is in 4th grade.  He is allowed to take his Kindle Keyboard to school.  I did have to write them a letter saying I wouldn't hold them responsible if anything happened to it while he was at school.

Mine is now shipped!

Have a tracking number for the USPS, with expected delivery Wednesday.

That is a little weird though, I don't think amazon has ever shipped me items using the post office.  Normally they ship UPS.

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: PW vs. iPad Mini
« on: August 29, 2013, 02:34:12 pm »
I have an iPad mini and a PW.  They are 2 totally different animals.  For my personal taste, I don't like to read on a backlit screen, which the iPad mini is.  Although sometimes I take the mini to work and then I will use it to read during lunch break.  However, with the Kindle app, landscape mode (so I can read and eat at the same time) splits the text into 2 columns and I'd really rather it didn't.  And then there's the battery life issue.

I love the size and weight of the mini but have read that when retina display is added, the device will weigh twice as much as it currently does.  That doesn't sound too appealing to me.

I LOVE my mini but prefer to do my reading on a Kindle, tyvm. :)

About landscape mode on the mini - you can change it to one column.  When it is in landscape mode, tap the screen to make the menus appear.  Choose the "Aa" one, and at the bottom of the box you can chose 1 or 2 columns.  That option only shows up if you have the screen in landscape mode.
