I just received my cover and it's stunning and exactly what I had in mind. What I really liked was the strong branding, this is the first book in series and also first book on this pen name, so branding was important. I took Lucas up on his free book cover offer and intend to get book 2 done by him asap. So just wanted to say a big thanks to Lucas and this is a service definitely worth trying out

Have you reported it? The look inside is just one para repeated over and over. Paid rank 240.
This is so disheartening

So, I got the canned email response as well. Somehow I doubt they have seriously investigated each of our books, analyzed the data we sent through, and manually reviewed each problem, all suddenly on the same day.
I have books that get low sales and reads, so easy to track the page flip issue. I just can't believe that almost everyone is borrowing my book and never read more than 1 or 2 pages. Some people, sure, but everyone? This page flip problem is huge. To me. Maybe a couple of hundred pages missed a day is an insignificant amount to Amazon, and in terms of hard cash it is, but it is not insignificant for my own self esteem. When I see a couple of hundred pages read per day, it feels good to know that a few people read and enjoyed my story that day. When I see 2 pages, I have no idea if 2 people read and enjoyed my story or if every day a couple of people decided my book sucked outright and couldn't get past the first flipped page

Writers' Cafe / Re: Questions for BookBub?

Another US and US+ question. I went wide to make my book perma free, but could not apply for the US+ option because it is nearly impossible to get books price matched free outside US and UK.
I really wanted to include UK in my promo. Also, they have a note that states your chances are better if you choose both US and US+
I would love a general response on how they expect us to deal with this situation.

Great news!! Thanks for clearing that up

Writers' Cafe / Yet another pre-order question
« on: January 02, 2016, 01:24:23 AM »
I've read all the pros and cons and decided to put my book up for pre order because
1. Easier to set up promos with the link available
2. More importantly, and I don't know if this is a wide issue or because I'm in the UK, but no matter what time of day I publish (and I've tried staying up all night to hit various hours) when I hit instant publish, my book always publishes with yesterday's date, which means people browsing for new releases that day won't see it as that.

But what I've just discovered is that Amazon is already sending release emails to my followers. Now many people don't do pre orders, even for fav authors (I don't ) and now I'm wondering if they will send another email out on the actual release date (still a month away) or have I lost out on that promo op by doing a pre order?

Writers' Cafe / Re: Is it just me or does ENT not perform lately? :(
« on: July 23, 2015, 03:30:37 AM »
I ran an ENT about 2 weeks ago for a Steampunk romance ( is quite niche) but usually does okay and this time saw similar results to you (21 sales for that day) But this is book 1 of a (now) completed series and has been around the block these last few years with a couple of .99 promos (including bookbub twice) and ENT previously and a perma free run for a couple of months... So I wouldn't give up on ENT based on my recent results, but also curious to see other responses here

Thanks for all the replies. My sale price is 0.99 but this is a young adult book. I am finding that this genre doesn't work well for most of the usual promo sites (or maybe it's just this book!!)
I couldn't get a BB, but ENT and Booksends did ok (far less though than when I've run romance promos through them) The smaller sites gave no bump. I didn't try Fussy Lib though.
Back to Genre Pulse: the package I bought mentioned placement in their app and in their email letter. This is my biggest concern...what email letter? I can't figure out where to sign up for this.
Anyway, just letting this one go

Yeah, very hit and miss, which is why the 0 sales doesn't bother me :) I was just curious how it works. There's no place on their website to sign up for email newsletter, can't see where to down their app, and their FB page doesn't have any book promo posts.
Oh, well, hopefully the magic is working somewhere behind the scenes

Writers' Cafe / Genre Pulse??!!

Long time lurker here, but complexed enough to come out of hiding. I ran a genre pulse promo today (full package) Zero sales, which is ok, but I can't for the life of me see where and to whom my book actually went out, or if it even did. Any suggestions on where I should be looking?

Writers' Cafe / subcategory top 100
« on: April 16, 2014, 02:43:44 PM »
Hi, looking for some advice. I've been on email with kdp support the whole day and at the end all I got was "sorry, can't help but will pass on feedback to development team" headbang
My new steampunk release is in the correct "steampunk" category (shows under browse categories on product page)
For more than 24 hours, this book has had an overall sales rank that should have put it in the steampunk top 100 list... but it just isn't there. Looks like some back end link missing so that steampunk list is ignoring my book. Has anyone else had this problem? Anything I can do?
