Writers' Cafe / Re: BookBub ad Catastrophe
« on: October 04, 2019, 08:31:05 pm »
You need to create a new account with Bookbub for your pen name with the new email address and add the book to your profile. Then you'll be able to run an ad for the new pen name under your new account. I remember reading somewhere on their website that Bookbub requires authors to create new accounts for each of our pen names before we can use their featured deals or ads.

I've just received my missing UK and other European payments.

We do know about her and a lot of us have been contacted by her the same as you were. There's a thread about her somewhere on here titled something like 'Redheaded book lover'. I was contacted by her and automatically deleted her email. Then I came here and did a search on her and read all about her  ;D

Writers' Cafe / Re: Thousands of ebooks pulled off Amazon?
« on: November 10, 2018, 05:49:41 pm »
I'm in Australia and I'm having the same problem with one of my books not showing up on the US store. It disappeared a few hours before an ad was supposed to run. I thought it was going to bomb completely and be a total waste of money, but I've had 2700 downloads in the US, so I'm assuming the book is visible there even though I still can't see it. It's a relief that the book isn't gone, but this hasn't been much good for my stress levels  :-\

Well that was fun ::) I had 40+ books transfer over to KDP in about 2 seconds, which was great, but then I spent the next 8 hours linking every single one of them to the ebooks, fixing keywords, adding a barcode to the covers, then previewing them all so I could approve them for sale. Lucky I'd given myself an entire day just in case it didn't go smoothly.

Writers' Cafe / Re: My dashboard is bleeding sales
« on: July 14, 2018, 06:41:58 am »
I don't use AMS and never have, but I noticed a drop in my CA sales on the dashboard. There aren't any returns recorded and no sign of why there has been a drop in money.

I am curious, though, to know how many mid/high-5 to 6 figure authors got there without BB.

I've earned six figures a year for the past four years and only just got accepted by BB this year. I've had two ads with them so far and neither did all that well, sadly. BB isn't the be all and end all that people think they are anymore. Not for me anyway. The ads certainly didn't skyrocket my sales like I thought they would. More like a small bump, then back to normal again after three weeks. Maybe if I wrote contemporary romance, it might have been different (shrugs).

It could be a hint to describe your characters in more detail. I tend to imagine the characters as crash test dummies when there's very little description  ;D

I haven't got any of my notification emails yet, either. Never had 'em this late before.

So...

Is that people around the world aren't getting the payment notifications for just the AU store,

and,

Just people from Australia who aren't getting ANY notifications?

Or is is people everywhere not getting any notifications?

I'm in Australia and I've received all of the notifications except the AU one. There is no record of the pending AU payment in my payments tab either.

I'm in Australia and had to laugh when I heard 'gobsmacked' used on the news tonight. It's still alive and well here :D

When you make a Payaneer acount, do you just change your bank details on Amazon, and they pay into your Payaneer account? What about US tax? I know we pay 5% already if you gave Amazon your tax file number, but does going the Payaneer route change that?

Yep, you just need to change your bank account on Amazon. Payoneer will send you an email once they have your US account set up. It will have the routing number, swift code and account number you need to input. I have my Aus royalties going directly to my Aus account, since it is sent by EFT rather than wire transfer and doesn't cost anything in fees and charges. No point sending that to Payoneer. You'll have to select which countries to send the royalties to the US account on Amazon, though. The tax won't change. It'll still be the normal 5% and you don't have to change anything at all.

Can you get Payoneer to deposit into your local bank account?

Yep. I've been using Payoneer for Amazon and Createspace payments for years now. The payments are deposited to my Oz account and they have a pretty good exchange rate. They do keep 1% of every transaction, plus corporate fees on top, but my accountant takes all that into account when doing my tax, so at least I get some of the fees back.

Writers' Cafe / Re: Has anyone ever used Ryan Zee's list building service?
« on: February 20, 2018, 06:59:30 pm »
I just received an email from someone representing Ryan Zee wanting me to join their sweet contemporary mail building list. I write paranormal romance and urban fantasy, neither of which are in any way sweet contemporary romance. Way to do your research, people ::)

I used them in June last year. Paid $25 and had 130 downloads of my PNR freebie. Not worth it IMO.

Three of mine disappeared today. Naturally, I checked here to see that I'm not alone.

Just received an email from this person as well. She didn't want to 'bombard me with information about her service' in the email (by telling me she charges $75 or whatever her fees are) and directed me to check out her website ::) After having a good laugh that she thinks I'm going to click on any links to an unknown website, I deleted the message.

Thanks for all the congrats - it's much appreciated! I have a bunch of promos lined up now (thanks to Ram's Promo Stacker - he rocks!) I'll be keeping a close eye on my ranking, but I'm in Australia, so I'll probably be asleep when the BB ad runs. That's if I can sleep at all due to excitement. I'll definitely update this thread if my ranking is stripped. Fingers crossed that the Amazon gods are benevolent and won't punish me for paying for a string of ads from completely legit sites.

Congrats! I know just how you feel  :P as I also just got accepted for a BB for a box set, my first 99-cent one. I think the fact that I've changed the cover and the fact that thrillers are hot right now are what made them accept it finally (after several previous attempts).
Congrats on your BB ad and I hope it does well!

Thanks to all :) I've decided to go all-in and am submitting to a bunch of other promo sites for just after the BB ad. It's going to cost a butt load, but hopefully it will be worth it. I'll be spending my entire year's ad budget in one week if they accept my submissions ;D

Thanks to you both! Let's just hope I don't get hit with the rank stripping stick Amazon have been smacking people down with lately.

After four years and 49 submissions, I've finally been accepted by the Bookbub gods :o Now I know what it feels like to win the lotto: shock, disbelief, then joy (and possibly a few tears as well). I honestly never thought I'd ever get to post a thread like this and have always been secretly jealous of those who have. I guess it just goes to show you should never give up. Keep trying and keep tweaking your covers until they meet their mark. If it could happen to me, it could happen to anyone ;)

I have C. Gockel to thank for this. She said in another thread that BB are loving 99c bundles right now, which spurred me to submit a deal for one of my bundles. It is the 7th time I've submitted it. Thanks for the prompt, C. Gockel. I think I kind of love you a little bit right now. (By the way, I've read your I Bring The Fire series and it is awesome!)

WE HAD A STORM HERE LAST NIGHT AND I GOT UP TO FIND A VERY LARGE TREE HAD FALLEN DOWN IN MY FRONT YARD :( NOW I'M GOING TO HAVE TO CUT IT INTO MANAGEABLE PIECES AND STUFF IT INTO MY GREEN BIN OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. I'D CALL THE SES (STATE EMERGENCY SERVICES) TO DEAL WITH IT, BUT THAT WOULD INVOLVE HUMAN INTERACTION, WHICH IS LIKE POISON TO INTROVERTS LIKE ME. DAMN YOU SUMMER STORMS!! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!

Writers' Cafe / Re: "NY Literary Magazine Best Story Award"--a Scam?
« on: December 25, 2017, 06:56:12 am »
I received the same email and came straight to Kboards ;D Since they didn't bother to say which of my 30+ books was nominated I just figured it was a scam.

Writers' Cafe / Re: foreign pricing
« on: December 04, 2017, 07:17:26 am »
I just checked the Aus store and saw your books are priced at $7.00. That's pretty expensive for ebooks. I change my prices in the foreign stores so my books cost the same everywhere so my readers overseas don't feel ripped off. Sure, I receive lower royalties, but at least people can afford to buy my books. They're more likely to give them a try if they're $4.99 rather than $7.00.
