Can someone please post the library skin image for a K2?  It was on here previously but the image was removed in PhotoBucket.  Thanks.

Yeah, sorry about that. When I organized my screen savers, all the links broke. The image you're looking for is in my DecalGirl folder:

Okay -- I'll address this to the collective -- what kind of WIFI connections does the Xoom support?

Reason for asking is the Kindle does not support ad hoc connections so will not work when trying to use phone hot spots for a connection.
Does the Xoom support ad hoc networks?

I skimmed that link and the short answer is there's an app for that... it will broadcast wifi in the correct mode from the phone for the Xoom to be able to use. For your next phone purchase, you might want to take that feature into consideration, as I think Motorola Android phones in particular default to ad-hoc, while I'm pretty sure HTC and many other manufacturers utilize infrastructure mode, which is the same as a wi-fi router. My rooted HTC Aria running CM7 (Gingerbread) can connect to pretty much any device I've tried it with. A friend at work didn't think his off-brand cheap Android tablet could use phone connections, because his original Moto Droid wouldn't work, but he can connect to my Aria no problem.

Have loaded in the PDF files -- had to do it via USB -- and I think it will work.

Have you tried Dropbox Ann? It works great for moving files back & forth from my computer to my Nook, my phone, my iPod Touch, my work computer. It's really cool... and free.

You can just go to to set it up, or use this link and we'll both get an extra 250mb from the referral...

Once you install the program to your computer, it creates a folder where you can just drop stuff and it keeps it in sync with the cloud at all times. Then you can install the Dropbox app from the Android market and just long-press any item to download it to your device.

I am buying "Gone For a Soldier".  I need to start from the beginning.

I started with Lonely is the Soldier, it was the best book I read last year. You won't regret your purchase Barbie!

Have fun at the big day tomorrow Ricky!

Love your new signature with the library properly shelved. Are those books shown in proper chronological reading order?

Good job Nog!

Try this...

...that is presumably the one with Netflix capability baked into it.

I've only heard the LG Revolution confirmed to have Netflix support... have you heard different?

Amazon's new Appstore was live briefly before being pulled down... it's pretty cool. They have a test drive feature that allows you to preview apps right in your browser. They also have the new (and supposedly exclusive) Angry Birds Rio as their Free App of the Day.

You can download the Amazon Appstore market app directly on your device by clicking this link:

Highly recommend this series... I've read the first two and loved them both!

Writers' Cafe / I'm bored... need some help with cover art?
« on: March 14, 2011, 08:08:21 pm »
I've got a few days off and a new computer that I want to play around with. I've done several covers for authors here on KB and I've never charged anyone (one author has generously paid me after the fact - completely unsolicited). I'm not asking for money, that helps to keep the stress level down for me as this is just a hobby. It also serves to keep expectations low. ;)

I am not an artist in the traditional sense, meaning I can't draw or paint a character or a scene for your cover. I will be happy to utilize stock art that you've already found or search for free or low-cost stock art for you. You would need to pay for any art we decide to buy. I have a practically unlimited set of fonts that I can utilize since I've been collecting them going back to the 90's when I was in newspaper advertising.

If you're interested, please send me a PM with as much detail as possible. I tend to work in the middle of the night since I work graveyards and when I'm off, I keep that same schedule. The more detail you give me, the less questions I'll have to wait all night for answers for!

I have no idea how much interest this offer will generate, but please understand that I reserve the right to cherry-pick the covers that interest me. I also reserve the right to pull the plug (politely, of course!) for any reason if I don't think I can help you. I may also choose to end this whole offer for any reason at all. Is that enough disclaimers? ;D

Here's a converted version...

Best I can find is this 480x640 version:

Looks sweet... good job! =)

Check my Boilerplate/Ex Libris folder...

The decorative letters you are looking for are called ILLUMINATED LETTERS. Try using Google to find ILLUMINATED C or ILLUMINATED M or ILLUMINATED ALPHABET, etc. Here are a few from WikiMedia.

I do see them in my web-based Gmail.

In Gmail, on the left side just below the Gmail Logo, you should see links for MAIL, CONTACTS and TASKS. When you click on CONTACTS you'll see several new options below that on the left side:

You can click on OTHER CONTACTS and use them from there or again, just add them to MY CONTACTS to see them in the main Contacts list.

I don't really use contacts much myself, so I hope this helps. If I'm off on the wrong track from what you were looking for, sorry!

Craig - go to to see the state of your contacts. Whatever you see there is what you should see when you set up a new phone. As CegAbq mentioned, you will see My Contacts at the top of the left side, if you look further down you will see ALL Contacts. If you like, you can go in there and select all and then click the button "Move to MY CONTACTS".

Your apps follow your Google account. Apps I have purchased on my Aria phone, still show as purchased and are free to download on my rooted Nook Color running Honeycomb.

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins?????
Thanks to everyone that works on these screensavers. I really appreciate it. I thought it would be neat to have a screensaver of book I read this year.

Kindle DX

These are friggin amazing!  I don't know where they originated but I'd LOVE to see High res versions.

hi everyone...

i was wondering if anybody had any cyberpunk/hard sci-fi/futuristic screensavers with a girl/woman/ as the central point of focus in the image. i dont want real life actresses, but concept designs only

obviously im having a good look myself, but if any one could id very grateful...

Did you already check my fantasy folder? Not sure if anything will fit your needs, but worth a look.

Looks like I was beaten by several helpful people... let me know if either of you still need me to give any of the above requests a try. =)

I ended up using the Apple Leather Conditioner on it this morning... put on a generous coat and rubbed it in, then about an hour later put on another generous coat and let it sit all day while I slept. Buffed it a bit with a towel when I woke up and it looks good as new.

I was just checking out the 'new designs' section on Saddleback - just noticed the Chamberlain Milk Leather Bag Liniment - has anyone used this? I've always had good luck with Apple Leather Care Conditioner, but with all the leather products I enjoy ;D, I don't think I could ever have too much on hand. Also love the looks of the Waterbag! But I think the weight would really drag me. :-[

Julip, did you ever end up using any of your Apple Leather Conditioner on your Saddleback pieces?

I'm at work, I accidentally placed my Saddleback sleeve down on a co-worker's desk right into a puddle of water.  :o

The only thing I have at home is the Apple Conditioner I used to use on my Oberon stuff. Wondering if that will help remove this watermark from my sleeve.
