Fire Talk / Re: charging green light comes on but charge is not complete
« on: January 22, 2012, 04:44:16 am »
Mine shows fully charged (100%) but I missed when the green light came on.  Larry, are you saying yours NEVER reaches 100% even when you leave it plugged in?

Betsy

it gets there but it turns green at 91% I have to let it chg another 30 min to get there, true not a horrible problem but for people on the go that don't check and think that they are at a 100% they are missing about 45 min of use...

You're not sacrificing anything if you can't charge it any "fuller."  :)  It could be that the battery is fully charged and the gauge is off.  *shrug* I don't expect those things to be all that accurate myself. But I'm going to plug mine in and see what happens when the light turns green, just for science's sake.  :D

If you think there is something wrong with your battery or with your Fire's battery system, you should definitely call Kindle CS (Inside the United States: 1-866-321-8851, Outside the United States: 1-206-266-0927).

Betsy

and for the record this is my 3rd one, I've called and they have replaced twice, so I think it's the device...

It's likely that the green "charged" light is controlled by a completely separate circuit / dedicated charge controller (It's safer this way), as such, yes, they can often indicate that things are charged depending on the temperature a little earlier than what you might consider "fully charged".  That last 10% on the meter often translates to about 2~3%of actual usable capacity.

your numbers don't add up the if you go by green light and unplug at 91% you lose 9% of capable time. Its not a 10 hour charge 7-8 hours at best, your willing to sacrifice that every time?, I'd would say if it was 98to 99% it's no issue but no 91% is not close...

Seems like most of these rechargable batteries I've had, the recommendation was to keep it charging for a bit after the indicator light says "charged."  I know that was the recommendation on my Canon DSLR battery.

Betsy

i just say that it is not consistent with all the other kindles I have, a green light comes on you know its fully charged. I think this needs to be addressed especially for a device that tops out at 6-8 hours on a 'full' battery. folks who do continue to charge will cut off some needed juice for reading etc...just my 2 cents...

Fire Talk / misformated books
« on: January 04, 2012, 07:59:38 am »
just wondered if anyone has noticed some books do not work well on the Fire, 2 in question is Stephen Hunter's Soft Targer, it is not centered but set to the left. On calling CS they said there was nothing they could do as it was sent that way...second was Steven Hamilton North of Nowhere where the fonts seemed off , the one I usually use was a bit small one notch up was too big...anyway just asking if anyone has seen instances of these 2 issues, thanks...

« on: December 11, 2011, 05:50:31 pm »
i use the touch more but I do take my fire to work read for like 30-40 minutes than play a game, gives me a nice break in the day. I have read on the fire for 90 minutes or so but the brightness is down to about half, I like the way it reads but to be honest could not give up my e ink...

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: k touch jumping around
« on: December 04, 2011, 12:14:27 pm »
yes it just takes me back to a page that was not where I was. Its confusing what's even more confusing is my friend in Ga, I'm in Md (recommended kindle to me in 09) has the same issue, so its something were both doing I assume user error honestly, I/we must be tab/swiping & end up somewhere else...I'm a loyal K fan so wanted this to work but as I told my friend I have the k4 & Fire its not like I don't have something to read. thanks for everyone's thoughts its appreciated...

it must be as your reading one page tap to go forward & I end up somewhere else. My friend has the same issue & we are both wondering what we are doing wrong. I assume I must be doing some small swipe as I tap & it goes to another chapter...

Let's Talk Kindle! / k touch pages jumping around-losing place
« on: December 04, 2011, 06:41:44 am »
has anyone noticed that the k-touch has a tendency at times to jump ahead & than lose your place & this is my second one. Just curious if its something I'm doing or has others noticed this...also not crazy about the menu setup...

stopped in Barnes & Noble to pick up a cd and cut threw the coffee area, guy had one showing another guy how it worked, thought that was kinda neat using the Fire in BN to get the wifi :)

I like the Touch , I have never been a button fan, works for me, than I would have to say the k3...I gave my k2 to my daughter and she knows I take care of my stuff & I told her I read a lot of good books on it and take care of it. It was hard to let it go if that makes any sense, felt like I lost an old friend, sorry I drifted off the topic...

mine went back today and it worked ok, had a couple apps error out & it froze once but for me I have too many devices, computer and an ipad so long run I just don't have enough time to work this in & I also did get the touch & I have the k4, so as said I just have too many devices...good effort by amazon tho...
