Writers' Cafe / Re: Selected for Book Bub Feature Deal
« on: September 18, 2020, 06:17:57 am »
This was my first experience with BookBub. The cost was not apparent to me at the onset. I wouldn't want anybody who does not envision a profit to invest in this project. I was hopeful but not optimistic that the cost could be lowered to pro bono since half of author proceeds are donated to a nonprofit agency to help abused and hopeless kids. Based on input from those who commented above, I concluded that there was too much cause for concern to risk money designated for the kids. It was an honor to have been selected for a feature deal that I hope in and of itself is another feather in the hat. I declined the offer yesterday and did not sense any bad vibes in the least.

"..I talked with the rest of my team as well as the editors, and we are able to change your deal for Rarity from the Hollow if you are able to lower your discount from $1.99 (the current discount) to $0.99. This would lead to a significant drop in the flat fee you would have to pay, from $1,310 to $754..." Anybody interested?

I posted this auto message to set the timeline if anybody is interested in paying the cost for a very large percentage of any profit. I can't afford to accept this deal myself. Thanks

My book was just approved for a BookBub feature deal. I can't afford to take advantage of it. If you would like to pay the cost, about $1K, you could take a large percentage of sales since I can't to it. Thanks

The regular price for the ebook is 3.99, discounted proposed to 1.99. What do you think?

Do you have to discount it 50%? That would involve D2D.

I figure that it would cost too much on BookBub to bid on Science Fiction.

My book was published by D2D. Does that affect advertising on Amazon? Do I need to sign up as a vendor? Thanks

IMO, books are more censored than movies or even commercials on TV. This topic reminds me of a couple of YA hits  although the first was R rated: "Your mother sucks cocks in Hell -- The Exorcist; "Penis breath -- E.T.

Writers' Cafe / What's going on with Lulu?
« on: June 28, 2020, 02:40:03 pm »
I wanted to update the cover, but hit a glitch. After sending two tickets for help from Lulu, I got back two identical emails that apologized for glitches on its site, and explaining that it was working on things and that staff were not available at this time to process tickets.

Anybody know what's going on?

Writers' Cafe / Re: I'll never learn - Stop asking for reviews!
« on: June 28, 2020, 02:35:26 pm »
My favorite review of my debut novel just showed up one day. It was one that apparently Amazon picked from the U.K. Living in WV, I have no idea who the person was, but if I did I would prob make an error in judgement by telling him "thanks!" If you want check out a great review, this one is the only one from AmazonUK to make it on Amazon. com on the bottom right of the reviews that Amazon chose to post. I sure have made a lot of mistakes by requesting reviews, but most often they were mistakes with good results.

Thanks! A local graphic artist is considering if he can help out. Nice guy but no experience in book covers.

Upon further analysis, it appears that all of the Facebook potential consumers of my book were reacting to thumbnail. That's something to consider. The image that generates for D2D is nondescript on Twitter, but looks better on FB. Food for thought.
