Glad to know that. I'll go back to putting my purchases (from computer) through here again.

Probably a stupid ?.  But will it max out what the siggy bar will hold? And if it does and I remove some to make room on bar does it remove them from my reading page?

And remember: when you spend your money by clicking through on a signature link, KB gets an affiliate payment. ;D

Somehow I got under the impression Amazon stopped giving KB  a % on kindle books purchased through links here?  Am I wrong?  I'd like to know because I stopped purchasing through links here because of that. I just read it somewhere on KB a couple years ago.

Other (non-Kindle) eReaders / Re: Sony Reader app
« on: January 04, 2013, 08:28:11 am »

You downloaded the app and then what? Tell us something more.
I have it on my iPad. Now I can download previously purchased books from the Sony store on my iPad. I can also shop from it and use the rest of my gift card on my account. I like my Sony reader, but lost the charger. So now I have access again.
I got it as well I'm glad they did this. Now I have access to all the Sony books I bought on my iPad and iPhone.

Not Quite Kindle / Re: LES MISERABLES
« on: December 26, 2012, 08:01:51 am »
Planning on seeing it today. I'm sitting waiting for Django to start and will try to get to it after. I'm a total Les Mis virgin. Never seen any version of it or read the book, so I'll have nothing to compare it to.

I've never seen a production, film, musical, or play, but I love the book.  I have a sweatshirt that has FREE #24601 across the front and lots of people ask me about it.
FYI: 24601 is Jean Valjean's prison number the second time he is in.  According to Literary biographers of Hugo it was the date he believed he was conceived (Hugo-not Jean Valjean)

Just finished reading "The Sense of An Ending"

It's amazingly spare and very well written.  But whoa, that ending is a doozy.

That is one of my favorite books I read this year. That and Never Let Me Go .

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: The defective PaperWhite thread
« on: December 26, 2012, 07:18:15 am »
I've had my paper white since the first batch. I see no discoloration no matter what I do with the light.  It is not completely white like my back lit iPad, but I didn't expect it to be, and don't want it to be. But aside from the little area around the lights on bottom, which I expected, I see an evenly toned background. I won't call it "white" it is closer to a new paperback page. That is the best way I can describe it. If people have color problems on the screen I agree with the posters who said to call. I hope your issues (those of you who have them) get resolved.

I see... I didn't realize most of the kids in my family liked "junk".

I of the opinion if kids are reading it is a good thing. IMO there is no junk  ;)

I've read two of the NY Times ones. I read Bringing up the Bodies , and An American Spy. I liked both of them.

I've never read it, or seen a movie. But I know how it ends. Out of curiosity I asked a couple friends. They'd never read it, but know how it ends. I guess I just thought it was common knowledge. This thread gives me the idea I may read it. I read a great translation of War and Peace a few years ago. To me the translation means a lot. It can make the difference between reading and enjoying or just slogging through it.

I don't have my contacts in yet. I hope I don't have to many typos.

Let's Talk Kindle! / Re: Do You Care Which Font Your eBooks Display In?
« on: November 03, 2012, 06:36:03 am »
Don't care. Never really have cared. I do change fonts sometimes, because I can and some look better in larger fonts for when I don't have my contacts in.

I had Amazon close my account and lock me out a year or two ago. I posted about it on the board somewhere. When it happened I just woke up with a new email that said my account had been closed and I had lost all access to Amazon or kindle library. They said it was for multiple accounts. They didn't wipe my kindle though.

I called and told them I didn't have multiple accounts and asked them to escalate it because if there was another account it was fraud- or identity theft, or something. They keep it closed until they found the problem, someone had gotten my credit card number and set an account up. Amazon shut down theirs. We turned in a report of fraud, got a new card, password ect. And I was back up. I did appreciate them doing it because it could have caused a huge hassle. But if I hadn't called my account would have stayed frozen and who knows what would have happened to the other one. But at least Amazon's action triggered me to call. And I am grateful.
