Export/import doc and docx.

Their FAQ page goes to:
Which doesn't load. Another layer of shadiness.

look great, but is his finger on the trigger?

I've wondered myself but never found anything beyond google docs. A chromebook has all the specs needed for writing, just needs the right software.
Maybe someone else knows of something new!?

Writers' Cafe / Re: What software do you use to write your book?

Some believe Scrivener is just a distractionware with features you will never even use, or is it actually helping you write your books faster.
I don't use all the features. But it has what I look for. If it has the kitchen sink with a chandelier, so what? Use the features you want and ignore the rest.

Love it. It's not perfect, but so far all the others I've tried still are playing catch up.

Just wondering... has anyone heard if KDP will tell us the average length read? If you can find out that 40% of readers stop reading at a certain point, maybe you can look at your book and change it to make them want to keep reading.

Something like that would be useful. I'm not holding my breath.

Do not submit the story to more than one magazine at a time. About formatting your submission read this:

What genre is it?

Not sure LOL, it was for a contest. I guess literary fiction. It's a sad piece, just 1200 words about a wife and mother moving out of her house after her husband dies.

thanks for the info everyone!

Writers' Cafe / What can I do with a short story?
« on: May 19, 2015, 01:22:56 am »
I finished a short story. I was think of putting it up on wattpad and my own site, but then I thought about maybe trying to submit it to some magazines.
I think if I put it up on my site in it's entirety or a place like wattpad it's considered published correct? And I can't submit to most magazines unless they say they submit work that previously published?

I just want to make sure before I do something I'll regret later.

I want to say it doesn't work with ALL cloud sync programs. I'm pretty sure Google drive has issues.
I use Dropbox without issue.

Why pencils? How about stickers and decals?

I just want to say this is my favorite new podcast. If you listen to podcasts, check it out. I really love that you don't waste time Lindsay (IMHO). Some podcasts have too much banter.
So much good stuff here!

Awesome! I love to see posts like this where people share what outcome a change has caused.

Looks good, but in the smaller format I honestly thought she was missing a neck! LOL

I thought the same thing!

Seriously though I like it.

What exactly can you do with Vellum? There's just not a lot of info on the site describing what all you can do. Do you just purchase the $199.99 unlimited version?

I wondered that as well.  I haven't bought it but I did download it and they have a sample book you can play around with to see what it can do. I think it was, "The Invisible Man". I agree they should make it clear that you CAN see what it does before you buy it.
Download it and see for yourself!

 ;D love it!!!!

Interesting. Does anyone else have similar experiences?

I found the Scrivener tutorials very helpful, but you might try here:

I follow him on Twitter and he has good information.

I agree he is excellent and worth the money.

Thanks eveyone!

Busywoman: I wasn't going to talk about these writers starting a podcast. I was thinking of mentioning good ones to listen to as I was afraid I wouldn't have enough to talk about. But thanks to everyones excellent ideas, I think I can easily fill up an hour!
