Kindle on Pc and the Bible
« on: September 13, 2011, 04:04:48 pm »
I have a Kindle and downloaded a version of the Bible on it, works great.  The questions I have is that my husband doesn't have a Kindle but he spends so much time on his laptop, I downloaded the Kindle app on it in hopes of downloading a Bible for him on there.  Several of the ones I have looked up say on the PC you can't choose book or verse.  This would be great if you wanted to start reading at Genesis 1, but does anyone know of a version that you can skip around to where you want to be on a PC?

Thanks!

    Eydie,

I'm going to move this to the Book Corner in the hope that more people will see your question and hopefully have the information you seek.  I also changed your Subject line also hoping that your question reaches your target audience.

I use the ESV study bible and it works well with 1-2 clicks to get me where I need to be.
There are also some Direct Verse Jump versions but I dont know how this would work on the PC

Whatever Bible you have on Kindle should work similarly on the PC Kindle App. . .and if you're both registered to the same account you can both download it.

DailyCheapReads has posted a bunch of different bibles and bible study aids.  You might send an email to the lady who runs the site or post on one of the comments.  I'm sure she'd help you out if she has favorites.  She posts a lot of bibles and Christian reads on Sat and Sunday especially (and other times when things are on sale.)

That said, what Ann said should be correct.  The book you bought should work the same on the Kindle for PC.

You might also want to point him in the direction of http://www.biblegateway.com/ where there are some excellent search features.  You can, for example, look up one passage from multiple translations simultaneously.
Will edit for food Tales From The Mad Monk.

The Net Bible folks at bible.org have a great Web based bible study environment with bibles and commentaries, etc

There have been many good suggestions (I use the Crosswire-derived programs myself, for non-smart phones I recommend Go Bible).
