You people are totally going to talk me into getting Vellum. I mean, I don't mind doing the ebooks by hand...

I'd buy a Mac FOR Vellum. It's that good.

Totally understandable. I bought my first Mac just for Scrivener (before they came out with the Windows version).

That was me, too. I adore Scrivener.

It turns out I hardly ever use Scrivener...but I love my Macs!
