I may have been to that conference. Seriously, I only go to two local conferences a year now. I have attended a few others, but I didn't get enough actual work out of their workshops to make me go back, especially for the kind of money they charged. What I see a lot of, sadly, are 1) people who've paid TONS of extra cash to have advance submissions with EVERY agent, editor, and publisher in attendance, and 2) people who ONLY attend the read and critique sessions. In the meantime, they're all missing the workshops that talk about honing your craft, writing a better story, making smart business decisions about marketing and promotions, etc.
