I grew-up in Coney Island and now live in Greenwich Village. I became diabetic fifty years ago and five years later I began to fool around with booze and later dope, heroin, junk. I've had a wonderfully schizophrenic existence, writing, meeting the famous and infamous, and living a life on the edge, and edges. I don't know how, but I'm still alive to tell the tale. I thought, up until a few months ago, that a major New York publisher was going to bring out my memoir, JUNK SICK: CONFESSIONS OF AN UNCONTROLLED DIABETIC, but then the financial crisis hit and was told by the senior editor there that they were no longer publishing "new" writers. I was sick, and "sick" of it. I decided to look for alternatives. I found Smashwords They thought enough about the work to do an interview as well. You can read both at:

I'd like to know what you think. A writer never works in a void; at least I've never wanted to. It's important to me to hear other voices. Let me hear yours; I can be reached at: nksavage at earthlink dot net.
