All right - so I went and did it...

I've just put my first piece of erotica - under a pseudonym - out on Kindle - and Kobo - today.

It hasn't gone live yet - but I'm hoping it, and a few more like it, will fatten up the monthly royalty check.

...that is, when I start getting a monthly royalty check.
::) ::) ::)

Wish me luck.

Did you use a male name, female, or one of those genderless "I.M. Hott" names?
Good luck! I actually decided to try my hand at writing an erotica short. I honestly don't know how I'll do. I'm not sure I can get over the internal embarrassment (not of being an erotica writer, but the actual act writing sexy scenes). I created a general plotting of it and I'm worried it might not be sexy enough for erotica, too sexy for regular fantasy, but no HEA for romantica. Lol, this is either going to take a lot practice for me or it will be a massive exercise in failure.  ;D

Of course, my crit partner won't be much help for me.

Writing my wip is taking forever, and I kind of want to have something up to see how I'd do. Plus i just think it'll be fun. I have difficulty writing short as it is, so I thought erotica might be easier to write short for me. Then I started plotting it and the sex kinda turned into a plot point instead of the plot! Lol trying to reel it back in now.

It's weird trying it out, that's for sure. Good luck and keep us updated on how you do. I'm definitely interested in seeing how an erotica virgin ( :eek: ) does.

The weird part for me is using the pen name - which is an honest-to-god male name.

I've never used a pen name before and it's a little funny having a book out and not knowing how to publicize it.

Writing it wasn't hard at all. I actually like a well-written bit of smut.

That's very "male" of me, I guess.  ::)

My husband, who does not write, nor does he read erotica, automatically thinks of Penthouse Forums when it comes to erotica.

When I told him the basic plot of my story, he said, "Yeah, I wouldn't stop on that."

I'm probably doomed to fail.
