Would it be possible to do page 1.1 - 1.6. So you know that you would be on page 1 in some version of the DTB and the number after the decimal representing what font size you were using?

Page numbers are commonly used when citing information. As a reformed Academic, I can see why people would want page numbers. I can't imagine having to explain to my Professor what a location is when they ask after reading my footnotes. That is about the only reason that I am stuck on the idea of page numbers.
