Might have been nice to have this years ago, when it first started. At this point, I don't really care. Newsletters we control are the thing, not some list of people who signed up for notices, which they mostly don't get, going by reports over the years.

If you go to your Author Central page and then navigate to Reports + Marketing via the top menu, you can now see how many followers you have.

I doubt it will do us much good, but it is interesting info to have.
Wow, so I have 84 Amazon followers. Who are these people and why are they following me? 🤔

374 followers? Maybe it's worth putting out my next project for preorder.

Wow. I've got just over 200. I suppose that means I need to finish the WIP and get it out there.

I think this feature could possibly help authors understand whether there is an interest in their product. It also might reflect on your author's blurb. Likable or relatable stuff on there might give a customer the impetus to hit the 'follow' button. I've seen some author's profile blurbs that were fairly creative, and people might react to it.

And who knows, if they haven't bought your books yet, they just might come around.

This is a marketing tool. It says that when you recommend one of your books it's put on your author's page AND shared with your followers:

Author Page: Book Recommendations

If you've got a couple hundred followers that's a couple hundred recommnedations. Same for any new books that you got coming out or older books that you want to put a shiny new polish on.

This is interesting. It could be helpful during a promotion. I already entered my books on my author page. Are they saying that every time a book is entered, it's sent out to Amazon followers' emails?? If that's the case, rotating books on occasion would be worth it. But I'm not sure how to track this.

Yeah, they are. Your followers are notified every time you put out a new book. A reviewer of one of my books said in her review that she became a follower of mine because she wanted to read what I publish next. A few of the things Amazon lets you tell your followers when you recommend a book of yours are "If you want to get lost in a story, I recommend my book...", "My most talked about book is...", and "My book I wish more readers knew about is...". That's promotion.

One of my pennames has 1,528. Haven't written anything under that name for a while. Perhaps I should.

Also noticed the new book recommendations option too. It has a facility to recommend not just your own books, but other people's books too. I can perhaps see cross-promotion opportunities there.

In my experience as a follower of my account for a few years, Amazon doesn't notify followers of every book.
Thanks for your post ImAWriter.
This has been my experience as well, and I've been following myself for years. At one point I started following a few prolific book-a-month writers as a test, and I've never even got 50% of the notifications that I should have.

Maybe that will change.

Holy crap. I have 156 followers. I'm with you Joseph. Who are these people and why are they following me?

Thank you. I didn't know this, so I checked, and color me shocked. I have almost 5,000 followers. I also saw that we can recommend books to our followers. Once I have time to set aside, I'll return and look into that more.
