I might get pretty girls dancing, based on the authors reviews on other books. I'll wait a few days. I see she has another series already in KU via amazon publishing so there is no hurry. Since they all end up on KU anyway.

Wonder why they went away from the kindle first name to amazon first. Branding geared towards the amazon name? Or because they added deals for hardcovers.

I took a quick look at them yesterday -- nothing leaped out.  I noticed the different set up of the page but didn't grasp that they'd actually changed the name. But, yeah, I guess it's because they added the hardcover option.

I'll check back in the middle of the month and see what the reviews say.

Am I reading the US page correctly in that the Kindle books, although available a month early as usual, are no longer free, but $1.99? If that's what's coming for us too, I doubt I'll be getting any - I struggle most months to find one I want when they're free!

Still free for prime members, $1.99 for all others ... been that way since the start, I think.

Daughters of the Night Sky sounds interesting, but I think I'd rather read something like that as non-fiction.
It did to me, too . . . but I've read a lot of 'women doing incredible things during the war' in the last year or so and I'm a bit burnt out on it. For now, anyway.

Ah, I see. I hadn't realised that KF books were available a month early to anyone, not just Prime members. I suppose as I'm always signed in it always shows Prime prices for me on the UK site, but on the US site it showed the non Prime prices.

Still, nothing's jumping out at me this month - even for free.

Decided to go with "pretty girls" - not a lot of reviews - but of the ones that exist, it's pretty well rated. About to take a trip to Ireland  :p so it might be my plane read.

I don't know about the offer of the hardback for $9.99 or less - I'm not sure I'd want to buy a hardback DTB for something that I wasn't already in total love.

How does this work? These have the typical Kindle Unlimited blurb under the $0.00 Kindle price, and the regular Kindle Unlimited "Read for Free" button and the "Buy Now for $1.99" button. Then there is the Prime verbiage that's new, but I'm not sure if I should just use the Buy Now button or what. If I hadn't seen this post I would have thought these were just part of the KOLL. Anybody tried this?

This is confusing to me too. It looks like it's only free to BORROW with Prime. If any Prime member here buys these for $1.99 and they end up being free, let us know. Until then, I'm going to adjust the OP.

For Amazon First books . . . ONE of them is free for Prime members. Non-Prime customers can get it for $1.99 before it's officially released. None of these books will be officially published until the first of the next month.

After that, they will be in KU and probably KOLL, possibly Prime Reading.

If you've bought one and go look at the selections again, you won't see the 'free to you' button on anything because you already got one. You can pre-order another, however, and then pay full price -- usually $4 or $5 -- and you'll get it when released on the first of the next month.

The selection changes each month. Terms may be different in other stores than the US .com, or for folks who are buying from .com but not in the US.

Ok, I checked this again. They no longer (as of 12/25 ~4:30pm CST) have the Kindle Unlimited logo, just Prime. It looks like they are part of the Prime Reading program, which I had not really looked at before. I clicked the "Read for Free" button and now have them in my Prime Reading library. The product page shows that I have borrowed them, not purchased.
