Good morning.  Are replacement units new or refurbished? I traded in a PW a couple of years ago and it had a small problem that I could live with so i kept it.  This led me to believe it was refurbished.  Thanks

Amazon has trade-in programs for both new and refurbished Kindles.  Or at least they did the last time I looked.

If I got a Kindle with a defect, even one I could live with, I'd probably contact Amazon to see if I could get a replacement.  They're very good about that.

As I understand it, if you bought it new and have a problem within the first 30 days, they must replace it with a new device. Reason: They'll take it as a simple refund for 30 days and you can just buy another new one.

However, if you have a problem after that 30 day period, they may replace it with a refurbished unit.

I've also bought several 'certified refurbished' kindles and never had any problems with them. They basically had the same warranty as a new one and for less money. Was worth it to me to have a spare.
