Amended: Hugh Howey got a book deal on January 7th, 2013 (not 7 figures)

Due to some erroneous information per Kriswrites.com saying Hugh signed a 7 figure deal, I had posted a link. Turns out she didn't read his comment closely, and I assumed she was correct, so I didn't double check. I knew he'd turned down seven figure deals, which is what the comment said.

Original mistaken post:
I guess he announced it in the comment section of Dean Wesley Smith's blog, but I read it here: http://kriswrites.com/. This guy's modesty knows no bounds. He makes an announcment like this in a comment section?
Or was it here and I missed it?
Congratulations Hugh to you and your wife, you guys rock.

I'm guessing this is his print-only deal that he announced several weeks ago. Maybe it's just now been finalized?
WoooooHugh!  :D  Congrats, my friend.  (Now do a little dance for us in your slippers!)
That's great Hugh!!!
Wow! Congratulations Hugh!! Where did you go to celebrate? :)
It couldn't have happened to a better person as far as I am concerned.

(Well, uh, considering I'm STILL stressed out over WOOL 1, and that I've come to the realization that he likes to torture his readers, perhaps I should rethink my congratulatory position.)

I STILL also laugh every time I come across that newspaper reading "author" picture...  ;D
We should probably just start one mega-thread for all the KB authors with 7-figure deals.
Congratulations Hugh! That's great news!
Wow! That is awesome and so well deserved! Congrats!
I did?!

I think this is about the print-only deal with Simon and Schuster, which wasn't in the 7-figure range. We turned down those offers for something that I thought was even better: an awesome contract.

This was your comment that Ms. Rusch cited
Hugh Howey says: (January 7, 2013 at 8:46 pm) One year ago today, I was working in a bookstore and making $10 an hour. Over the course of the last year, I turned down a half dozen 6-figure offers and two 7-figure offers before finally getting the deal I wanted. I had been writing and self-publishing for three years, but the real success came practically overnight. It's anecdotal, of course. Just one story among many.
and how she interpreted it:

As writer Hugh Howey mentioned in a comment on Dean's blog, Howey was earning $10 per hour at his bookstore job on January 7, 2012. On January 7, 2013, he's finalized a seven-figure book deal..
Betsy
7 figure book deals, and here I was thinking about how great it would be to get a 4-figure deal lol
Also, Publishers Marketplace reported it as a "Major Deal", which is pretty much anything 500k and up, so probably some people are assuming from that.
No, the NEXT thread on Hugh here on KB will be, "Hugh Howey signs... every copy of his books that David Adams owns."

To be shortly thereafter followed by, "Famed indie author Hugh Howey dies of carpel tunnel syndrome after signing..." ;)
