Probably one of the few books I'll pre-order and pay more than I want to for it BUT I want it

I feel the same way. How lucky are we that we started reading at this time when the 7th book is coming out!

Jealous, jealous, jealous. On the other hand, I've know Jamie and Claire for 17 years. Originally, there was only supposed to be five books, and now it looks like eight.

I'm waiting impatiently for the series on Raymond. She promised that a very long time ago. I hope she still plans on writing it.

No kidding, the only bad thing about a great series is waiting for the next book. I hope to finish Voyager this weekend so that I can get started on the next one. Does anyone know if the new book will be an end to the series?

I think I read somewhere that she was planning on ending the series in the 1800's and Voyager seems to be moving on to the New World.

I'm hoping this isn't the last book, although all good things must come to an end eventually.

There will be one more after Echo. Yes, it will come to an end eventually, but it does take DG about four years to write one of these blockbusters. We've got a way to go, yet.

I got my ring and it's too small. I wear a 4.5 and I ordered a 5. It's beautiful, though. I'll get around to having it resized soon.

I'm beginning to think again of getting this series in dead tree version as well as the Kindle version. There was a discussion at 2 Kindle groups about Licencing agreements - about having to re-buy books after you download it to 6 Kindles/ Ipods. If I have to re-buy books, only those special ones, like this series, then I may as well buy the dead tree version as well & have something permanent. Right?

I have all the others in hardcover. Since I don't want a gap in my Outlander shelf (heaven forbid), I'll be getting this one in hardcover, too.

I was looking at this in the store and it doesn't have a pre-order edition for Kindle, but it has the "I want this on kindle" link. I've only just finished the first book, but I'm hooked and I'm sure I will be ready for this on by then. I read "Outlander" in less than three days.

Glad we've got you hooked on our beloved Jamie and Claire. When you catch up, join our book klub. We'll be reading the last section of Dragonfly in Amber this week and discussing it the week after. We'll start reading Voyager the week of April 20. I don't know about anybody else, but I need to catch my breath after riding a Gabaldon roller coaster.

***I don't have any of the paper books, but when a friend lent me her paperbacks, (which I returned), I was so used to reading on my Sony ereader, that the font size of paperback books seemed small. I am thinking that if the hardcovers are available, that I should get the hardcovers, since the font size would be larger.

And so is the book. The hardbacks are very heavy. All my paperbacks disappeared, so I replaced them with hardbacks and then got the new hardbacks when they first came out.

So they run on the small size? Good to know.

I think they said that it runs small, but I figured a half size bigger would be enough. I'll see what the jeweler says about my ring size. I may just have measured it wrong.

Thanks for letting me know that the books are heavy in hardback, Gertie. Good to know. I'll save up for the paperbacks, then. It'll be cheaper as well, as I took a look at the prices today at Amazon.

I'm getting the new one in hardback to complete my collection, but I'm dreading picking up the ton of bricks I know it's going to be. Maybe I'll get the HB for my shelves, and then read it on Little Gertie. That'll kill my entire September budget.

I broke down and finished ordering the series earlier tonight. I know I will read them.

Once you start, it's hard to stop.

Slightly OT, I managed to get a staph infection in my knee (diagnosed today) and promptly came to work and got a massive virus on my computer. Evidently SYmantic ins't all that great.

So, you and your computer both got infected today? Hope both your knee and your computer get disinfected quickly.

We used to have Symantec/Norton at work and it did the job. I have Macafee at home because that's what came with my Dell. I'm not very happy with it.

Last year, I got a massive virus that took me three months to clear up. I had to use two other programs, besides Macafee, and my computer has never been the same.

Now, Macafee runs frequently and keeps me from getting on the Internet or running any programs. They have a solution and it's only going to cost me $49. On top of which, their website wouldn't accept my change of address.

Well, that's what the company pays tech people for. And it was all better when I got back from my days off. Knee is is still icky and hurts.

I hear what I thought was gunfire. Then I saw the flash of an explosion through the window.

Of course, my journalist self had to investigate. A car had exploded and was burning in the parking lot. Wasn't mine or close to it thankfully. So, I grabbed my press badge and got to to snapping and asking.

Needless to say, between being keyed up over the book and the explosion, I haven't slept much today.

Knowing how the stones sound, you probably thought for a wild moment that you were hearing the stones. Congrats on your byline and photo credit. So many good things come from knowing Jamie and Claire, don't they.

Wow a car explosion?! how did that happen Nessabug? At an apartment complex I lived in several years ago. someone firebombed a car in our lot. It burned so hot it melted several cars next to it and parked across from it. I was lucky mine was a lot further away. Thank God no one was in the car at the time.

"Voyager" is a rather explosive book at times itself. Well, nothing's actually blown up ... so far ... I mean emotionally.

Yes, DG has a way of yanking hard at our emotions. Sometimes, I just have to put the book down, whichever one of the series I'm reading, and walk away for a bit.

Wheww! I bookmarked, on the Kindle, all the ch.'s in Voyager last night. This book looks bigger to me.

It's 870 pages in hardcover. We might as well read 150-200 pages a week, considering how fast you guys are ripping through the series. I'll be posting the first section tomorrow night. Sorry I have to be a little late, but I just got back from vacation tonight. You know how that is. Unpacking, laundry, replenishing food, etc.

I had a fantastic time, thank you. Great party for my father at my cousin's restaurant. Lots of fun times with another cousin's grandkids. Saw people I hadn't seen in 20 years. April has been my month for reunions.

Echo is now available for pre-order, but the price is $16.50. I think I'll wait.

Ouch! That is higher than I thought. Well, I want the Kindle version anyway. I hope it comes out at the same time, but is a lot cheaper. I am hoping for $9.99 or less.

$16.50 is the K version price. Unfortunately. I won't pay that much for it. I tried to track it, but it wouldn't track, probably because it's the pre-order price. I'll wait a week and see what happens.

I think the HC price is $17.64. I was going to get the HC too since I have all the others in HC, but The Fiery Cross is falling apart and I probably will never even crack open one of them again. The Kindle is just too easy to read.

Ouch. I hope we can hold off on starting the book klub for this one until it goes down a bit. I can't justify spending that much on a digital copy, but my wrists won't like the hardcover.

None of us want to spend $16.50, so yes, we'll be delaying the book klub until it goes down some. Not too long, though. I'll wait a week to see what happens and then go ahead with it. That doesn't mean every one who wants to discuss has to pay the higher price. Just jump in when you are ready.

We'll be doing it a bit differently. As soon as I get the book, I'm going to set up a thread for each "part" so that everyone can discuss at their own pace. It will be open discussion with no formal questions.

Right now, we're on ABOSAA and I'm doing it one part at a time. I'm posting the questions as I finish reading the part, so it might be a week or only a day or two between discussions. Everyone (including me) is going at their own pace.

Thanks so much, Gertie, for thinking about waiting until the price for Echo comes down a bit. I haven't been posting, but am still reading along with all of you. I also had made up my mind not to spend more than $9.99 for it..... less would be even better but I'm not holding my breath. I have timed it so that I'll have enough left on a gift card from my son to buy Echo.... if the price is right.

I don't think any of us want to spend $16.50. That's only about $1 less than the HC.

I think we need to start clicking for the K-version, since it's been taken down.

I've decided to try to not rush through Echo.... since we know we'll have a long time until #8 comes out. It's just so hard to put these books down.... unless there's a "difficult" part that I have to take my time with. Hard to read with tears in your eyes..... When the series is over.... I'll just have to keep re-reading them. I can't imagine not having Claire and Jamie "around".

I at least read Outlander every year, but I haven't read through the whole series in a very long time. It's been so much better since all of you have been reading along with me.

A kindle version was posted originally, and then taken down.

We've seen this happen before. Sometimes no kindle version is posted until the actual day of release or a few days after.

Considering the fact that the rest of the series was available in the k-version, I think this one will be, too.

Harvey has set up a sub-forum for the Echo discussion.  I started a poll to get everyone's opinions in one place so we can decide when to start the Klub.  Whether or not you plan on joining the discussion, I would appreciate it if you would respond to the poll.  I know many of you prefer just to read along with the discussion, and I want to include you in the decision.
