Anyone Add Books as Publications on LinkedIn?

I was updating my LinkedIn profile and noticed the "Publications" section.  Has anyone added their books in this? If so, what did you put under Publication/Publisher?  What link did you put in your publication URL (can you use an Amazon link)?

This sounds like a good idea but I can't find it. Where is it? ???
Has anyone determined what use LinkedIn is?

No, but honestly don't think LinkedlIn is all that useful for artistic endeavors. Maybe if you're trying to get into a creative writing program or something. I know there are agents, editors etc on there but I don't really go looking for them on LinkedIn.
I've used it, adding books as pubs. To be honest, LinkedIn isn't all that useful for networking with other bibliophiles. I've run multiple ad campaigns with them (every so often I get free ad dollars), and none of them has ever led to a single sale.

I've had a profile there for years and I still don't know what it's for. I dutifully update it, however, each time I change jobs. Just in case.

Another way to waste all of the time we're supposed to be spending writing?

The best use if LinkedIn is to join some groups related to your interest and post on their forums.

Active members are mostly all promoting something, so IMO it is all about enlightened self-interest. My best use of it was to find guest posters for a website I ran. In return I would ask them to throw me back a link and/or a mention on their social sites.

In other words, it was a good way to network with others in the "biz". It may not be the most effective way to find Joe Reader who just wants to find good books.

I've wondered the same since I set up an account. However, I've also noticed that almost everyone I know (or worked with over the years) seems to be on it - many more than have Facebook accounts. Most also seem to be active too, always linking with others or updating their profiles. So that means that there's a lot of active eyeballs on LinkedIn, so I figure I'd keep it updated.

The other thing that's interesting is that LinkedIn tells you how many times your profile has been viewed by others (without specific info). How many of us would love to see this feature on Amazon, etc.?

There are writing groups that are active, with discussions that often mirror those I see here.

This sounds like a good idea but I can't find it. Where is it?
When you edit your profile, look to the right and you'll see a "Recommended for You" column. Under it, there's a "Publications" button.
