Or Reading Deals come to that? Books Machine have sent me emails via my author website, mentioning my books by title and saying they're good enough to be promoted by their (paid) website - ah, the marketing power of flattery! Obviously they're not BookBub--but I'm wondering if anyone's had any results with them?

They're a scam. In general, if people are contacting you it's probably not worth it because if they delivered well they would be inundated with requests.

That makes sense. I just looked at Book Machine's Facebook page - 28K page likes, yet barely any likes on theirs posts. Hmmmm...

They poach the big sites. If you've advertised on any of the better sites recently, you'll likely get an email from them, and they'll just happen to have a spot available in the next day or two -- at a price, of course! -- when you're still in the halo of sales from other sites, and so can't effectively judge how well Books Machine performs (or, you know, doesn't perform).

Three words of advice: delete, delete, delete.

I tried Book Machine for my recent big promotion, and yeah, not worth it at all. It ran on the 1st, a day where it was stacked with four other promo sites and I netted 3 sales. Of those, most were UK so I am pretty sure they came from the UK promo site in that mix. So yeah, I'd skip.

Reading Deals netted me around 12 sales during the promo just using their free option, so I'd be willing to give them a whirl for the paid one.

I signed up for their review service and it was a waste of money and time.
Yeah, I tried Reading Deals review service months and months ago and it took forever for the reviews to come--I'm still not sure if I've had them all now as I've not received the results email you're supposed to get at the end of it. It's a shame really because it should be a good way of getting honest reviews that are in line with Amazon's codes of conduct--and the reviews I've had have been honest (not everyone liked the book). And I actually like the Author Hangout podcast (run by the same guys) and was wondering if their mail out fared any better than the review service.
