I want to practice my blurbing skills. I think I'm a fairly decent copywriter and I'm sort of disgusted at my current inability to make back cover copy sit up and act right. So I want to practice. If anyone wants blurb help I'd appreciate the chance to sharpen my skills. I just have one condition. I don't think I can write decent copy from just your current blurb (I might be able to tighten it up a bit, but not create new). I need a little more than that.
If anyone is interested I'd ask for the following.
Your tagline (One or two sentences that sum up and sell your book)
Your blurb
Your target audience (age, gender, and/or one or two authors whose work you think your prospective reader's read)
A brief synopsis of your book
A 5-10 page writing sample so I can get a feel for your voice.
I realize it's asking a lot, but really writing good copy requires more than just knowing what the current control is.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. For some reason spell check acknowledges blurb is a word but not blurbing. I don't know why, but that really bothers me.
