The Hugo nominations are now open. There are a ton of categories, so if you read an Annie Bellet short that you love, or a fine piece of sci-fi erotica from David Adams, or some Dalglish fantasy, they all qualify. Anyone who attended ChiCon7 is able to vote. Also qualifying are those registered for WorldCon 2013 or 2014.

I'm planning on going to the conference as an attendee this year (last year was my first, and it was a blast!) Anyone else thinking about going? I saw a few KB'ers in Chicago, which was cool. Everyone was more normal-looking than their avatars.

Yeah, I'm going. I'm even gonna drag along the husband this time.

On the super plus side, at least my left tattoo sleeve should be mostly done by then.

I was in Chicago last year, and I have a membership for London next year. Not sure about this year yet.

Hanging out with other awesome writers and getting to geek out with them is the number one reason I go to cons, for sure

Nope. Right now I can really only afford one con and that's SDCC. I do hope to branch out though. In which case, you (or another KBer) might just get my vote.

I REALLY want to go, but finances are tight right now. If I do, I definitely want to meet you. Are you doing any panels or kaffeeklatches? If not, I'll definitely look out for you at the parties.
