My sister and I are thinking of getting a Kindle, but I normally only listen to audio books and my sister needs large print books.  Does the Kindle offer lots of audio books and is there an option to get the books in large print?  Thanks for any helpful advice we can get.

You can get audiobooks that work on the Kindle from Audible.com.  Good audiobook provider; I use audiobooks, too.  And you can adjust the font size on the Kindle to a pretty large font, so it should work for that, too!

Hi Tari,

The kindle has 6 adjustable fonts. The largest is equivalent to 20 pt in Word.

I think the Kindle does it right with the different print sizes.... Right now, as I am still young and gorgeous  ;D I use the smallest type size, but it's great to know that as I reach my golden years I will still be able to read on my Kindle. I haven't bothered trying the audio on it yet, I already own a glut of iPods.

I hate to quibble, Leslie, but the large font size on the Kindle is between 14 and 15 points in height for capital letters. I know this measures 0.20 inches, but that's not 20 point. 20 point would be 0.27 inches in height.

72 point is defined as being 1.00 inches high. If your 20 point type is 0.20 inches on your computer, then there's a setting that is way off somewhere.

Quibble away. The largest size is equivalent to the 20 pt in Word. If the measurements in Word don't correspond to printer's sizes, that's a different issue. Basically...my guidance...when people say, "How big is the biggest font on the Kindle?" and I show them a corresponding Word document, they are essentially the same.

That will work fine if you show them your computer, but fonts show up as different sizes on different computers.

What Word is telling you when you choose 20 point is that when printed out, the text will be 20 point, not that it is 20 point on the screen.

Well, now according to what Pidgeon found out, Kindle 6 is 16 point in Word! LOL
