Audio Enabled Kindle Experience

Does any one listen to audio books on their Kindle and is there an application that allows you to listen to an audio recording of an e-book while reading it  simultaneously on the Kindle

I'm recording the audio version of my book and thought it would be incredible if you could read along while the narrator narrates.

Thanks in advance

To my knowledge, no.  You can listen to appropriately formatted audio books.  And you can read e-books.  The only way to listen and read at the same time is to use the "text to speech" function. . .which is not anything like the same as listening to a well produced audio book.
I've got the Audible.com application on my smartphone. So in theory I could play the audiobook version on my smartphone while I'm reading the e-book version on my Kindle.

I'm not sure why Amazon doesn't let you read while you're listening to an audiobook on the Kindle. Maybe they just never got around to programming it yet. Plus, I bet it's a feature that they'll have available within a few years. Amazon's just now getting around to promoting audiobooks more heavily. Audio (and video) will be a big part of any iPad-style tablet that Amazon wants to release.

At that point, they'll start taking audiobooks more seriously - and when people start using them more, Amazon will start adding more features to the Kindle for audio playback.

Maybe I'm over thinking this, but wouldn't the ability to hear a narrator recording of a book while your read along fundamentally change the experience. For better and worse. I'm thinking, if done right, for better.

This is what I'm thinking as well.
