Indian Hill 1: Encounters A Michael Talbot Adventure, by Mark Tufo. (Still 0.99?)

"I read this book after reading Mark Tufo's Zombie Fallout and Zombie Fallout 2. I really enjoyed it, especially the gladiator scenes which were well thought out and gory in some interestingly different and unusual ways. Looking forward to more on this series. Mark Tufo's got a fan for life." -- Amazon reviewer

A Michael Talbot Adventure

How to Build a Powerful Writer's Platform in 90 Days, by Austin Briggs. (Still 2.99?)

"This book is a straightforward game plan to build an online presence that serves "the brand" you create. Briggs is basic without talking down, explaining the hows and whys of what he is suggesting. Early on he tells the reader this will take a chunk of time, and you need to devote yourself to it. You have to ask yourself What is my brand? Who is my audience? What does my email address say about me? You need to build a great website and nurture your Twitter feed and cultivate your online presence. He suggests way to get feedback, and build buzz. How to approach the press, solicit interviews, get the book published (in print or electronically.) The first 2/3 of the book are a narrative approach (with many helpful links that could easily be clicked through to read via my electronic copy.) The last 1/3 of the book is the day-by-day breakdown of exactly what you should be doing each and every day. I would guess it would take a few hours on some days, and about an hour on others. And this does assume that the book (or product) is written and ready to go." -- Amazon reviewer

Austin Briggs refreshingly delivers upon this promise in a concise, unhindered presentation without any annoying fluff or blustering boasting regrettably too common among many authors trying to sell their how-to book of the day.
I am C, Not X, Amazon reviewer.

To be truthful, I have skimmed many books on "how to publish and market new books" and most of them were a waste of time, repeating the same old information. So, I didn't expect much from this book, but was very surprised! This book is wonderful!

Spirit of the Road: The Life of an American Trucker...and his cat., by Rick L. Huffman. (Still 3.99?)

"A witty and engaging read. I found the detailed account of this year-long adventure quite entertaining and informative. Who knew that Elvis was a truck driver and that there is an Intercourse, Alabama or a Big Butt, North Carolina! This OTR philosopher gave us a peak into the challenges of life on the road. After reading this book, it's hard to drive next to an 18-wheeler without wondering if the driver is a former teacher or a future movie star...or if there is a furry creature riding shotgun." -- Amazon reviewer

Spirit of the Road: The Life of an American Trucker...and his cat embarks on a one-year journey across the United States in an eighteen-wheeler. It runs the gambit from a wide-eyed rookie in Commercial Driving school to the eventual embracing of a new lifestyle at a dusty little truck stop in Crab Orchard, Tennessee.

Having made the transition to trucking after spending 20 years in television broadcasting, the author sets a comical tone from the very first chapter in a "fish-out-of-water" story. However, the dangers and challenges of life in a big truck are very real, and the book takes on a more somber tone to describe this aspect of road life. The reader is also introduced to little-known, funny, or unusual historical facts about some of the places visited while they are along for the ride. This book offers the reader an entertaining, yet candid, picture of the life of a long haul trucker with a little slice of Americana on the side.

Another unique feature is the inclusion of a "traveling cat" in the story. The comical and, sometimes, poignant adventures of "Kitty" are interwoven throughout the book and promises to hold appeal for pet lovers.

The life of the American trucker still holds a bit of the rugged explorer's lifestyle. The trucker is usually far from home and uncertain what lies around the next bend. Spirit of the Road: The Life of an American Trucker is a book that touches into a cornerstone of a lifestyle few people know about, but that hides a passionate group that bears further study, namely, truck drivers.

Spirit of the Road: The Life of an American Trucker not only describes the realities of road life and entertains the reader with humor, it puts the reader directly into the cab (and the mind) of a truck driver. Similar attempts at describing the trucking lifestyle by other authors have fallen short of the mark. Either the author handles the topic clumsily, or authors who have no firsthand knowledge of life on the road in an eighteen-wheeler write it. Even worse, writers spend a few days, or weeks in the passenger's seat with a driver, and then claim expertise in their book. In contrast, this book provides a first-hand account of life on the road for the period of a full year by an actual trucker, who also happens to be a writer. This book puts the reader into the cab of the truck and takes them along for the journey while providing education and laughter while they are along for the ride. This breadth of outlook cannot be found among the books now available.
