Barron's, for those who are unfamiliar, is a prominent weekly stock market paper. It has an article on Amazon which says that the Kindle is already a significant help to Amazon's profitability. It says that Sony and other companies are working hard to try to stop Amazon from getting a stranglehold on the ebook business. It also says the the cost of customer "fulfillment" is 8.3% of revenue for the rest of Amazon, but only 2% to 3% for the Kindle books. This can significant increase their profit margins. The article also calls for Amazon selling as much as 1 million Kindles this year.

It's just a shame that you can't actually subscribe to Barron's on your Kindle.  Barron's publisher, Dow Jones & Co., does make the Wall Street Journal available for electronic distribution, but not Barron's.  :-\

Yes, I subscribe to both for home physical delivery.  However, when I'm away from home and can't read the journal, I purchase on an ad-hoc basis.
