Each book is a full length saga with the binding thread of Alex Cave who has friends in high places and knows how to look after himself. Corkill also shows a human side of Alex as he struggles with his relations with his father and niece and nephew. There are interesting characters like Wesley, an old timer who knows his mountain and when it is in upheaval. Alex is the geologist they turn to when things start going seriously wrong, He's also good friends with Okana and together they work on defeating the enemy who have found alien devices to clean up the world, amongst other things.
