I wouldn't see there being much a problem with using it.  I've used the same car charger for several different phones/devices and not experienced any problems.

What is the output rating for the charger?

Most phone chargers are around 500mAh, sometimes up to 750mAh. Chargers for tablets are usually in the 1800mAh to 2100mAh range.

That's not to say that it won't work. If the tablet is powered off, the 500mAh charger should still work, but it is going to take a long while to charge. Even my BlackBerry phone won't charge while powered on and connected to a 500mAh charger.

When looking for a car charger for tablets, it's best to look for one that has a minimum rating of 1800mAh.

It'll work...though will be slower than from a wall.
