It has been a year since I did facebook ads and I decided to jump back in with new ideas, strategy etc... Based on my experience, stay away! I used various analytical tools to see where clicks were coming from and determined that a high degree were bots. On top of that I recieved a steady stream of spam emails either leaving goodreads reviews, friend requests, impersonations of other authors etc...
I changed my target audiences regularly and it still kept occuring. In essence, you are being charged for bot clicks/landing page views.
