I would really like the idea of having a co-writer but I know nothing about how to get one. So if you have one, what was your process and where did you find yours?  :D

this board is a good place to start since it gets a lot of eyeballs. Start a thread saying you are looking for a co-writer. Post the genre you want to write and ask for people to PM you with a sample of their writing. Be prepared to also send them a sample of your writing.

Then send them the blurb of your proposed novel or series and see if they can offer useful input into plot and characters.

there's no mystery

you're looking for a ghost? you pay them

you're looking for a collaborator where you actually do contribute some of the writing, not just a lot of talking into a recorder? you bring an equal level of fame & readers

you have to bring something to the table
