Connection help - Please

Hi All,

I bought a Kindle in the UK a few months ago, registered okay and downloaded a couple of books. I am now back in the UAE and cannot connect.

EAch attempt to connect fails with failure of passwaord etc.

Is this wi-fi or 3G you are attempting to connect with?  If wi-fi, is the password for the router correctly set?  Is the router set to b/g compatibility mode (n-mode only will not work). 

Did you try a reset?

Hi Susan,

To be honest i don't know if it;s wi-fi or 3g :-[ and i don't know how to find my router password to see if it's set correctly or how to check the settings you mentioned:-[

I did manage to try a reset, but no joy. If you or anyone else could help me check these setting i would be grateful.

I'm presuming as you bought the Kindle in the last year that it's a current (3rd) generation model. To find out if you have a wi-fi only or a wi-fi + 3G, from the Home Screen, press Menu --> Settings. Under 'Device Info' it will give you the serial number of the device. If it starts with B00A or B006, it's wi-fi + 3G. If it starts with B008, it's wi-fi only.
