There have been many threads on what makes an ideal cover or blurb. What things in either a cover or blurb causes you to instantly reject it?
For instance if I see the word empowered in a blurb I stop reading and look for the next book. If I see a cover where the focus is primarily on a muscled guy without a shirt I pass right on by. The same with women in lingerie. I like to see some style and imagination in a cover and a blurb that actually draws me into the story. I like a blurb to summarise the story, not how the author thinks I will feel about the story. I don't want to be told I won't be able put a book down, I want a hint as to why I mightn't want to put the book down.
