For my first two createspace novels, I first put them on Kindle, then put them on createspace. I emailed the CS folks and they merged the two entries. I'm wondering if it would be easier to just start with CS and let them publish to Kindle. But if I do that:

1. Can I still go Select?
2. Will the novel appear on my KDP page, showing me purchase stats?

I've considered doing the same, mainly because when I launch a new book, I want to have a print version available at the same time as the eBook version. Currently, it takes me about a couple of weeks (depending on quality of the proof) to get an print version out after launching an eBook.

I noticed that Createspace offers a conversion to Kindle tool as part of their printing setup process (usually at the end). But I wonder how the conversion looks - or do you get better results doing it yourself?

BTW: KDP select is only for eBooks, so Amazon doesn't care about print book versions.

1. Unless the KDP Select program ToS has changed, yes. If I recall correctly (but it's been a good year since I had anything in Select, myself), audiobooks could also be released while a title's in Select.

2. No. KDP = Kindle Direct Publishing. That's only the e-book side. CreateSpace has its own sales interface.

So any ebook version sales would not show on the KDP dashboard- they'd only show on the CS dashboard?

I did the CS process for my first Vampira book, then they converted it for me for kindle. Looks awesome. They're customer service is the best I've ever experienced. My two cents.
