I did. It was clear from the review the guy hadn't even read the book. But what I did, I wrote to KDP support emphasizing the fact that the review violated Amazon's Terms and Conditions and created a bad customer experience. They removed it. I suggest you do the same.

Thanks. I sent them an email saying it wasn't a 'verified review.' Your step will be next. I would accept it if they had bought the book and said it was rubbish. Nothing I can do about that. But this also hurts sales, which are never brilliant at the best of times, and puts off potential buyers.

But in her case, there doesn't seem to be any violation. Many reviews are unverified. Amazon has no requirement for a review to be verified to be legitimate. You guys are actually breaking Amazon's TOS by attempting review manipulation which is clearly spelled out in the Terms of Service. Trying to get negative reviews removed just because they are negative.

Nothing I can do against verified purchase reviews. I just have to suck it up. I had no idea you could even write a review without buying the book. As for not complaining if it was a 5star review. Amazon would rip that right out of the review list.
Also nothing you can do about unverified reviews. I don;t know what you are going on about. You are going to message Amazon and tell them what? That someone left an unverified review on your book that you don't like? I have dozens of unverified reviews most writers have hundreds. This can get your account locked for attempting review manipulation. Last warning.

Thanks for the advice, Herefortheride. Have you ever been warned off by Amazon for doing the same thing?

No, I don't engage in review manipulation. I don't mind getting whatever stars the reader wants to leave. The reviews belong to Amazon, not us. But we've had numerous writers on Kboards with their accounts locked for review manipulation.

This is a new experience for me. I did once get a one star review for another book but they had bought it and made a comment. I was annoyed, but accepted it.
The first one always hurts. But after a while, the feeling fades as you realise that it really doesn't matter. The odd 1 star review will effectively get averaged-out by the overwhelming majority of largely positive reviews, provided your book is good that is.

It is frustrating to get ratings without reviews.  A one star with a great comment made it obvious to readers that the reviewer didn't understand one was 'bad' rather than 'good'.

What I find frustrating is the lower reviews are weighted so much more than the higher ones.

There's no date. It comes up under ratings (that little bar chart on the left)
Right. I was getting the impression that you were able to see a star-only review specifically. I think they are just factored into the overall rating, though.

Like the others have said, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I don't think it would be worth any possible outcomes.
