I don't know that I'd expect that. Though on the basic kindle, at least they have the 'chapter dots' on the progress bar instead. . . .not a time, but does give you an idea of how long a chapter is. There are actually a fair number of people here who prefer that.

Hmm. . .well, if you go by the numbers of the firmware, "5" is the touch or the paperwhite. The PW definitely has time to end. . . . and now, I gather, the touch does as well with the recent update.

But, in everyday usage, many people refer to the current basic kindle as the K5. . . K1 was the original, K2 was the 2nd gen model with a flatter profile, K3 came with WiFi and was the first with special offer options, K4 was the basic that came out initially -- no keyboard, no touch -- at the same time as the first Touch.

The current basic kindle, though, has the same firmware number as the K4, so should probably more accurately be called K4.1 or something. The only real difference is a slightly better screen and a black vs gray case. Amazon certainly treat them as the same device on their help pages.

To summarize, then, of the kindles currently for sale new:

Keyboard, formerly K3, does not, to my knowledge, have time to end of chapter. It has a progress bar and location numbers. It does have an option to see number of pages for a book as well.

Basic, aka K4 (or K4.1 ) does not have time to end. It has a progress bar and a percentage, but you can show locations. don't think it supports pages. . . at least, I don't find them on mine which is a K4 vs K4.1.

Paperwhite DOES have time to end of chapter.

BUT. . . . .it mentions K5 in the thread title, so I can understand the confusion. . . I tried to clarify in an earlier post.
