Rakestraw Book Design (formerly Unbridled Editor) offers full editing services, proofreading, and book cover design. Don't publish your book without taking every effort to make it the best it can be. Ebook and print formatting is also available when it fits in our schedule. We have a comprehensive list of books we've had the privilege of working on located on our website: http://rakestrawbookdesign.com under the heading 'Our Books.'

We have a dedicated editor, a dedicated proofreader, and an on staff artist at your disposal. Our prices are reasonable, and we offer 30% off for payment in full. We also offer payment plans if that fits your budget better. Please contact us if you have questions about how best we can help you prepare your book. See our sponsored Hangouts on Air on Google+. Links to past videos can be found on our website.

We recommend any author take into account that quality editing takes time. Please allow enough time for editing in your publishing schedule. Our usual turn around for an average length novel is 4 to 8 weeks, depending on how full our schedule is at any given time. We're able to keep our prices reasonable by working with several authors at one time.

What a mean miserly person you are. Spending time doing nothing but putting down someone. And then following it up with a smarmy 'oh look, I do this better' link.

Some people have too much time on their hands...
To be fair, have you had a look at the article?
I'm not saying it couldn't have been phrased a little more gently or perhaps addressed in private, but I've just read through the article and it's pretty enlightening - the information is very useful and his designs are amazing.

I know if I were to be taking the covers route I'd certainly want all the tips I could get and there are a few very good ones from someone who seems to know what works well?

He's right.. And I think he genuinely meant good luck and told what to improve in their designs. They did you a pretty nice cover but I can see that they could improve their blending skills and make it look more realistic. Which would mean an even better looking cover for you. If you can't judge the designs technical details and execution than let others give honest feedback.

For now, judging their portfolio, the skills aren't average yet. You can't compare those covers to Scarlet R. covers etc (who probably is the best designer in my mind on this forum). And again, I'm saying NOW and based on those covers in the portfolio, maybe they have better works and will show better work.

I don't do lip-service, I leave that to people who worry about how other people see them.
As a business owner, with a brand of your own, maybe you should.

The OP didn't ask for your public "business advice". I think you should have sent them a message in private.

We've reviewed this thread. While it may or may not have been well-intentioned, it's generally bad form to make a critical post in someone's "services" thread, and in doing so leave a link that leads to your own competing services.

That post has been deleted. We're unlocking the thread.
