I've been remiss. I've been drawing reader's attention to my $ .99 Kindle book - Bobby's Trace and other standard price woks - The Jade Owl Series and also, a mystery called Turning Idolater. However, I have neglected to introduce myself and to list all my Kindle works.

I am Edwrd C. Patterson and I have been writing all my life, but only publishing for the last fifteen months, although I have had professional publishing brushes for the last 8 years. I have written 22 Books, mostly novels in different genres, of which 11 book have been published independantly in both Paper and Kindle formats. I started publishing on the Kindle within 2 weeks of the Kindle's advent in November 2007, so you might say I've been a pioneer Indie Kindle author. I spend a great deal of time writing, and also invst in helping my fellow authors. I have a true commitment to my readers and believe that an Indie author is responsible for excellent and engaging fiction, editing, and literary elan, because a novel is a collaborative expression. I begin it, but my reader finishes it. It doesn't exist until it is in the hands, eyes, mind and heart of my readers.

As for me, I am 62 years old (tomorrow April 5), blind in one eye, a veteran of the US Army, worked for the same company for 44 years and have a Master's degree (and part of a doctorate) in Sinology (Chinese History). I sing opera and am active in the Gay and Lesbian (GLBT) community. Althouh all my books have Gay characters somewhere in them, I like to think that they transcend genre and they are what they are. If it is not improper to do so, I shall list my available Kindle books (with links) below, but shall only promote them (a few at a time - and with some discounting down to $ .99) in the Book Corners of this excellent board. Generally, my books on the Kindle are $ 3.99 whether they are 100 pages or 700 pages; however, I have been lowering some prices, for specified times periods, for these times in need of economic stimulus (both yours and mine). I am happy to answer questions either here, or on the Book Corner discussion groups, or through email [email protected] My website is at http:/www.dancaster.com where I style my Indie publishing effots as Dancaster Creative.

Thanks for introducing yourself Edward and before I forget...happy birthday!

I sampled Jade Owl a while back and enjoyed it very much, partially because I am Chinese but also because the story just grabbed me. I haven't gone back to it yet as I was in the middle of another book but when I do, I'll leave a review for you.

Welcome aboard.

I've seen your posts on the Amazon threads, Mr. Patterson.

That's quite an extensive list of works you have there. I only have the one novel published but I'm working on the sequel to tRoR, a different series altogether, and some short sci-fi stories.

I wish I owned a Kindle, so I could buy your book. I read the sample (on Amazon, I think) and some of the excerpts you've sent out. It doesn't take a genius to discover your talent.

If you don't mind the question, what made you so interested in China?
I've never been, but I have lived right 'next door' in Hong Kong. My father is still there actually (his company plays ping-pong with him, bouncing him back and forth from there to Singapore).

Happy Birthday and many returns. :)

I know I'm new here but: welcome aboard.

Thanks all for the bithday wishes, and I have no Jade Monkeys, but we could find a Jade Pangolin and here and there a Jade Wombat. lol. As for my interest in China - it started just as an interest in History, which led me to Egypt (I minored in Egyptology) and then to Japan and finally to China, where I had a love affair with the Sung Dynsaty (Sung Ch'ao). Before I was finished, I had a Master's in it and was at Columbia University on a doctoral track before I ran out of money and was caught in a job freeze in the Sinology field. (Ancient History - 1977). Then I traveled to the Motherland, and ahh . . . I knew I had to capture the spirit of China, not only her history in my books. I wound up working as a Marketing Director at a fortune 500 company. When that company downsized me - 2002, (I still work there but in a lesser capacity), I had been writing for many years. With my life back (an executive's life is 24 by 7), I finally began to finish projects and by 2002 had a taker for The Jade Owl. My latest novel (11th published) The Academician is Book One of a work I strted 37 years ago. I'm no overnight wonder - if a wonder at all, but China is now my second love. Readers are my first. I have 10 novel projects in progress, many of which will be announced here. And, I'm happy to say that after 15 months of publishing, I have readers - happy readers, and will probably cross over the 1,000 books sold mark by June 1 (my projection - ex-Marketing director and all that). Since I'm an Indie author and do it all myself (except a dedicated, pro-bono editor), it gives my life some worth - the nicest birthday present I could have. I cast my soul unto the open seas and it returns in a thousand worthy wisps on the in-coming tide. I have paid for this precious and worthy life and can sigh the eternal contentness.

Thank you Linda. Are you inclined to giving reviews he he? But in any case, I'm delighted you enjoyed it and to experience a new reader.
