The eBook edition of The Great Gatsby, published in 1925, recently burst into the Top 100 Paid, peaking at #35. Makes me think that the Kindle is here to stay.

Oh. Whew. Thought the title of the thread meant someone had written a Gatsby vampire novel, and I was about to heave.

You aren't the only one.

Besides, everyone knows Gatsby is more of a zombie fighter.
Major motion pictures have a way of buoying sales. :)
I saw the title and though it was a book and had the credit card ready to buy it.
Hmmmm... maybe a Gatsby vampire novel is actually a good idea...  Imagine the fangs digging into Daisy's neck?
There won't be mashups until it's public domain. I suppose you could write things inspired by Gatsby. I don't know where the lines for fair use are.

Just went to Project Gutenberg and looked at the new public domain titles. Some cool stuff!

Ever heard of The City of Beautiful Nonsense by E. Temple Thurston? What an amazing book title! And the writing (1913) is so adorably old-timey. :D http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/41752

ETA: I don't think there are any YA Vampires in the Top 100, are there? I think it's swung to contemporary romance with porkswording.

Hey, if anything it's ripe for a sequel by now. I'm sure Gatsby's had long enough to rise again as one of the undead and start seducing highschool girls.

This both saddens me since I planned to add to the YA vampire detritus filling up Amazon, and makes me happy for usage of the phrase "porkswording."
