"New Testament - I love the parable of the growing seed in Mark chapter 4 verses 26-29. This parable only occurs in the Gospel of Mark. I equate the seed to be the Gospel, which is filled with so much power and truth and life that "the seeds sprouted and grew without the farmer's help, because the earth produces crops on its own."

The above is from the blog at, commenting on today's reading. I've come to realize another aspect of the parable. Referring to, "the seeds sprouted and grew without the farmer's help..." How often do we influence people with our words and actions, never even realizing we've planted a seed - not necessarily by preaching to them, but by simply being what we should be; a helping hand, a listening ear. We may see that person almost every day or we may not see them again for years, but the planted seed begins growing without us doing anything else, blossoming eventually into a fruit God can enjoy. It truly amazes me.

"Fear not for I am with you always - even to the ends of the earth!"

P.S. Every fruit contains the seeds for the next generation.
