Really? There's no way to find out how many pages in the entire book unless you check Amazon or a hard copy?

As a new Kindle owner, it's a bit disorienting to not have any idea where you are in the book while reading (how close to the end? You only know if you know how many pages) Of course some books have TOCs, but still.......

Why do you need page numbers that badly if you can see how far you are along by the % it gives?
Otherwise there are locations (when you open the menu) which will give you a better estimate of how far you are along in the book.
Ahhhhh!! Is that what that is along the very bottom of the Kindle screen? I thought it was battery power used!

Well, that info is really helpful, thank you!

You might want to browse thru the User Guide. It explains all the displays and button functions. ;D

Mike
I have, that one just didnt register with me. It's very similar to the battery usage display in other devices.

And as a technical writer by trade, I can tell you that no one reads the user guides! :D (When I read the Kindle one, I mostly critiqued it, lol)

I'm happy with the bar at the bottom that tells me how far I've read and how far I have yet to go, in a general, analog sort of way like seeing, in a print book, that I'm "about 1/3 of the way through" or whatever.
Hey Jan, a bit off-topic but I just ordered your book Risen. Altho I'm not really a horror fan (altho I liked King for years), I do like SHTF/apocalyptic fiction...so Risen sounds like it might be fun.

Cheers to you and Chester!

Edit: apologies if this is not appropriate

Huh, I only saw the little Quick Start Guide for my Kindle, it came in the box (no mention of page % indicator or page numbers). But after wondering, I did find a large file for my Kindle on my pc....a User's Guide .pdf.

Well, that should help!

Edit: Or I could read the one that is actually on the Kindle  ::)
