Greetings:
Here is an introductory post that will allow me to set up my profile, apparently. That said, best to use it to provide an introduction of a useful nature.
My name is Darwin A. Garrison. I am a science fiction and fantasy author (as so very many are) with several published short stories to my credit, three of which qualified me for membership in SFWA. I have not yet completed a novel but (as so many also are) I am working on correcting that deficiency. I currently have a series of short stories being released by Naked Reader Press in e-book format.
I am also the chief dogcatcher for a start up small press called Evolutions Publishing which releases under the imprint of Darwin's Evolutions. We will be releasing our first e-book short stories starting this June followed by anthology collections in both e-book and hard copy in September. Novels will be along as soon as I find one worth publishing in my slush pile.
Beyond that, I'm a middle-aged engineer who likes model airplanes, photography, anime and manga, bicycling (on occasion and in moderation), the odd strum of my guitar, and the occasional trip to the shooting range. I have a standard American family with children and pets but sans divorce and mostly sans drama. From an external perspective, I'm sure that it all appears very dry and boring. Truth be told, boring is underrated. As someone once said, "Adventure is someone else in a great deal of trouble far, far away." Stories are good for that. For daily life, boring is the absence of panic. I'll take it.
I'm here on the boards to keep my eyes and ears open to learn some things, get a feel for readers and writers who love their Kindles, and to see if it's worth hanging around on a regular basis from the social perspective. I'm cautiously optimistic that this will be a positive experience.
And that'll do for now.
