This Doesn't Happen In The Movies (The Reed Ferguson Mystery Series), by Renee Pawlish. (Still free?)

"The promising kickoff to Pawlish's comic mystery series, starring far-from-perfect PI Reed Ferguson. Pawlish earns high marks for plot construction, with twists and turns naturally unfolding as Ferguson, inexperienced but not incapable, feels his way through the case. A good-humored mystery series worth following." -- Kirkus Reviews

5 Star Review
I hope you revel in the vicarious thrills as much as I did. The plot works on all levels, the supporting cast is great, and Pawlish reveals key elements of Reeds character with light brush strokes and a master's touch.

5 Star Review
I'd recommend this to people that like mysteries. I'd recommend this to person that likes a good book. I'd recommend this to anyone who just wants to enjoy some quality time with quality material. But if you have a pressing engagement (like finishing writing your own book) - stay away until AFTER you finish, because once you start, you won't be able to put this down.
John DeJordy, author

This Doesn't Happen in the Movies isn't a typical mystery/detective story and that makes it rather refreshing...I laughed, I cringed and I enjoyed this fast-paced mystery. I look forward to reading more about Reed Ferguson's shenanigans in the future.

Public Enemies, by Jess Money. (Still 0.99?)

"Fantastic political thriller! Author Jess Money had me hooked from the first chilling chapter, after reading his sombering author's note. This is a fantastic and believable story about government corruption and the industries that control the government. The action never stops, the characters are well developed and believable, and you simply cannot put it down once you begin to read it. Packed with suspense and mystery, we pursue the appropriately named "Tom Paine" as he wages his own revolution against the mess that we have come to know as our government." -- Amazon reviewer

The elite aren't afraid of laws or regulators or voters. The only thing they fear is an uprising of the people.

That fear is about to be realized.

The man who now calls himself Thomas Paine lived by the rules. He went to college, served in combat, raised a family, and paid his taxes. Then his employer went bankrupt, taking his pension and his family's medical insurance with it. After his wife's death from cancer he's vowed to bring about a Second Bill of Rights using targeted vigilante violence against the politicians, banksters, and sinister CEO's he considers the "real Public Enemies."

Can FBI Special Agent Darren Medlin stop Paine, or will too many who have watched the American Dream turn into the American Nightmare join his "American Insurgency"?

And what about ambitious but principled young talk show host Crystal Dickerson? By using her show to announce his threats and demands, Paine thrusts her into a spotlight she's not yet ready for, and into conflict with both Medlin and the entrenched special interests that stand to lose if these amendments are adopted.

Which direction will the country turn? Can targeted vigilante violence really force true political reform and save democracy, or will it just provoke massive government repression, and perhaps even widespread martial law? Is it possible that the insurgency will spawn a successful non-violent third party, or will government squash that as well? What important decisions will Dickerson have to make, and how far will Medlin go before he draws his own line in the sand?

The Thin Pink Line, by Lauren Baratz-Logsted. (Still 0.99?)

$4 off today!

"Smart, funny read! The Thin Pink Line offers an original plot, sharp and crisp dialogue and wonderful characters. Also, Jane's desperate attempts to legitimize her pregnancy will have the reader roaring with laughter. Red Dress Ink has released a fresh approach to chick lit with this wonderful gem. Illogical and strange conduct aside, Jane Taylor is the proverbial neurotic heroine... And The Thin Pink Line is a must read!" -- Amazon reviewer

Is Jane Taylor like you and me? Hopefully not! She's a slightly sociopathic Londoner who wants marriage and a baby in the worst way - just like everyone else, she thinks - but in Jane's case she's willing to go to over-the-top lengths to achieve her dream. When Jane thinks she's pregnant, she tells everyone. When it turns out to be false alarm, she assumes she'll just get pregnant, no one the wiser. But when that doesn't happen, well, of course she does what no one in her right mind would do: Jane decides to fake an entire pregancy! Join crazy Jane Taylor for her madcap ride in the debut novel Kirkus gave a starred review to and Publishers Weekly called "hilarious and original."

Where There's Smoke: A Short Story, by Jodi Picoult. (Still free?)

"Great story! I love this short story and it was so great for the author to provide it free for her fans. It grabbed me from the very beginning and didn't let up until the end. There was so much going on in such a short story and I can't wait for LEAVING TIME to come out in October where this character will be featured. Hopefully this will give some insight into the character when reading that book. All I can say is I just want more, more, more!" -- Amazon reviewer

Bestselling author Jodi Picoult is a masterful storyteller, who "writes with a fine touch, a sharp eye for detail, and a firm grasp of the delicacy and complexity of human relationships" (The Boston Globe). Now, in this original short story, available exclusively as an eBook, Picoult introduces Serenity Jones, one of the fascinating characters from her eagerly awaited new novel, Leaving Time.

Even as a child, Serenity Jones knew she possessed unusual psychic gifts. Now, decades later, she's an acclaimed medium and host of her own widely viewed TV show, where she delivers messages to the living from loved ones who have passed. Lately, though, her efforts to boost ratings and garner fame have compromised her clairvoyant instincts. When Serenity books a young war widow to appear as a guest, the episode quickly unravels, stirring up a troubling controversy. And as she tries to undo the damage-to both her reputation and her show-Serenity finds that pride comes at a high price.

Praise for Jodi Picoult

"If Picoult were a general, she would be Patton; if a sports franchise, the New York Yankees; if a natural phenomenon, the sunrise."-Tampa Tribune
