Is there any freebie software out there that mimics InDesign like Gimp does Photoshop and InkScape does Illustrator?

I did a Google search, but couldn't find anything. Maybe searching the wrong keywords.

Honestly, I'm a professional computer geek and it took me a little bit, but there are blog posts and video tutorials that cover most of the features.

Yes, Scribus works with Windows 7. I've done a couple books with it and found it to have a few glitches but nothing I couldn't work around.

Google "ebook template"
You will get a lot of choices, including template for Word, etc.

Seriously fantastic and easy. Since my husband teaches Word at a College, I can easily adapt and change them as well, but even if I didn't, they are great 'out of the box'.
